Position                        Game Programmer, located in our studio in Plano, Texas

General Description

Robot Entertainment, the independent developer of the Orcs Must Die! and Hero Academy franchises is looking for multiple experienced, generalist game programmers to join its staff.  These individuals will have responsibilities across a wide variety of coding disciplines on one of our new projects currently in development, working as integral members of our small, nimble development teams.

Required Skills & Experience

  • A minimum of two years' game industry experience as a programmer, including writing and shipping games on the PC or console platforms;
  • Must have knowledge of, and be confortable working in C++. Experience with Unreal Engine 4 is a definite plus;
  • BS/BA/MS degree in Computer Science of related field, or equivalent work experience;
  • Experience with major game development systems such as user interface, gameplay, engine architecture, or AI;
  • Skilled at integrating art, code, and feedback as the product iterates during development;
  • Good written and oral communication skills;
  • Takes ownership and is a self-starter;
  • Collaborative and works well in a team environment.

Additional Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate…

  • Plays and enjoys games;
  • Has an understanding & practical experience developing multi-platform titles;
  • Has experience evaluating and integrating new technologies including plug-ins and middleware;
  • Has worked on mobile and PC-based online games.

Position                        Technical Artist, Rigging/Pipeline/Tools
                                    Full-time position located in our studio in Plano, Texas

                                    Salary Range: Commensurate with Experience & skills

General Description

Robot Entertainment, the independent developer of the Orcs Must Die! and Hero Academy franchises is looking for a Character Rigger & Technical Artist to join its staff on a full-time basis.  This individual will have responsibilities for creating character rigs, skinning models and developing art tools for artists on one of our new projects currently in development, working collaboratively with development teams.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Able to create and maintain high quality and complex character rigs in Maya;
  • Able to skin character and object models with an eye for quality deformation;
  • Can develop new and maintain pre-existing content and rigging pipeline tools;
  • Can set up assets in Unreal Engine 4, such as physics, cloth, and blueprints;
  • Has comprehensive Python scripting experience;
  • Can work with character artists to maintain topology standards;
  • Able to collaborate with animators during the rig creation process;
  • Has effective communication skills;
  • Takes ownership and is a problem-solver;
  • Is collaborative and works well in a team environment.

The ideal candidate…

  • Has 2+ years relevant rigging experience in film, TV, or games;
  • Has experience with Unreal Engine 4;
  • Has 3ds Max rigging and MAXScript experience;
  • Has experience with game performance optimization.

Position                        User Interface Artist
                                    Full-time position located in our studio in Plano, Texas

                                    Salary Range: Commensurate with Experience & skills

General Description

Robot Entertainment, the independent developer of the Orcs Must Die! and Hero Academy franchises is looking for an experienced and creative User Interface Artist to join our art staff on a full-time basis.  This individual will have responsibilities for UI design, implementation, and support for our entertainment products across a variety of platforms. This is an excellent opportunity for a UI Artist with game industry experience looking for new challenges.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Experience as a User Interface Artist/Designer for games;
  • A minimum of three (3) years working in UX/UI.

The ideal candidate…

  • Can create and improve user experiences and interfaces using wireframes, prototypes, style guides, and user flows to effectively communicate those ideas to team members;
  • Is proficient using tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Axure RP, or applicable wire-framing software;
  • Strong understanding of fundamental graphic design principles (color theory, visual weight, composition, layout, typography, etc.);
  • Knowledge of animation principles (Squash and Stretch, Anticipation, Staging, etc.);
  • Has experience using Unreal Engine 4;
  • Has experience using 3ds Max, or Maya;
  • Possesses good written and oral communication skills;
  • Takes ownership and is a self-starter;
  • Works well as part of a team across multiple desciplines;
  • Has experience developing websites is a plus;
  • Plays and enjoys a variety of games.

Education Requirements

BS/BA/MS degree in Interaction Design or related field, or equivalent work experience.
