A light weapon?
I am loving all of the Orcs Must Die! weapons and spells! Almost everything has been covered---fire, ice, air, lightning, necromancy, vampirism, even poison! I especially like how each spell has a unique primary attack. The Flame Bracers shoot a fireball with splash damage, the Ice Amulet fires a tripleshot of ice, and the Ring of Lightning fires a bolt that chains to nearby units.
But there's one weapon that's missing from the game---light! How about a light wand or something that shoots a continuous beam of focused light ahead of you? It could be a more or less weak, yet precise weapon good for killing kobolds from long range.
The secondary could be something unique too, like a temporary light force field that could act as a barricade in a pinch, or a wall that stunned enemies that entered it.
Anyway, what does everyone think? Wouldn't a light weapon round out the elemental weapons perfectly?
That part about the "wall that stunned enemies" already exists. Fire ring secondary (fire wall) with the unique upgrade for stunning.
That's true, I guess I've never used that upgrade. I can't really think of a secondary.
The Vampiric Gauntlets do a stream of damage, but they also regenerate life, so maybe the light weapon could do more damage, but perhaps consume more mana?
Using the "wall" as the core part of the seconday you could make it a wall that re/deflects projectiles, making it useful for helping deal with Cyclops Magis, Gnoll Grenadiers, and Crossbow orcs. Make it one way and it will have a lot of use for the player both as something to hide behind against ranged enemies, but also as a means of using it to attack enemies from odd angles.
I like that idea a lot, TankHunter. As a light weapon it would make a lot of sense to reflect projectiles, being super useful.
Another idea could be that it would create a field of light around the warmage, making a sort of reverse-lightning storm of the lightning ring. Instead of striking enemies, it would heal the warmage and any allies or guardians around him. I think that would stick with the 'light' or 'holy' aspect of the weapon as well and make it very useful.
how about a fairly low damage, continuous beam that penetrates enemies in a straight line? and then that projectile blocker secondary?

I think it could work as an all-elemental weapon... a stream of light similar to a Ghostbusters proton pack, that contains a stream for ice, cold, lighting, and acid, so it works on all creatures. But like you said, it would need to deal very little damage to be balanced.
Then again, the Stone Staff and Wand can already kill kobolds very effecitvely at range.
