Or even can be improvised with texting or tweeting that you're up for a challenge. FB and Google+ also are ways.
And if you've exahausted or are just plain bored with your digital options - plug into the old fashioned analog network and drop-in on an IRL friend. Chillaxin and HA-haxin round a WiFi hotspot over Starbucks or Boddingtons is a great way to waste an evening.

This already exists in a way. You can be friends on gamecenter or steam
Raise your hand if you use gamecenter for anything other than finding out what top % you're in, or for wondering whether those couple who won 900,000,000,000 or whatever games, hacked it intentionally somehow, or ran into a bug.
Seems like I should be able to find people on it, but I can't figure out how to. For example, I am often interested in whether the person beating me has won a lot of games or not.... But you don't seem to be able to search for people... Can you?

Thank gawd Robots don't have to make it (I agree it'd be an uneccessary time and money sink) - that's an Apple thing, I think.
RE only has to plug into their interface and supply the cheevo params. I do like cheevos. They're an interesting diversion while there's a lull in the tourney play cycle or when you have a push-over rando that would otherwise be just an exercise in pushin pixels. Like feral little mini-challenges.

Even without GC, you can just invite your "friend" to a match. And if youre HA buddies, youve probably got a match together already. And when that ones done, theres a handy rematch button.

What about clans too. Its not really useful in anyway but its cool. And an emblem too. To represent the clan. Then if they ever let us make our own custom map it could be embedded on the floor. That would be sweet. And if we could change our guys appearance then the symbol could be on their (used the right there (don't know if i used it correctly right now)) armor. And this would work well with team games. Once again if they add that.
