Who is your "nemesis"?
As I've spent time in the Hero Academy community, and especially with the league, I've developed a rivalry with certain players who were at about my skill level. Though they may not have been aware of this rivalry, I considered these players my nemesis (what is plural of nemesis? Nemisi? Eh.)
Anyway, just curious if other players have an arch rival, past or present. I'll give mine:
Juuicetin - Most of you probably don't know Juuicetin, but he was the very first league champion. Our first (and only) match was epic. Ah, the good old days.
BrianGraham - I think this one was mutual. He seemed to give me more credit than I thought I deserved...but truthfully I was just as intimidated by him. If you have played him, you know that he makes aggressive play an artform. He is also a former league champ, but doesn't give the game as much time anymore.
DrvUMad - Not really my nemesis per se. I just can't beat that guy. Well, I beat him once. But he always seems to squeak by and get a sneaky win. It's happened several times that I lose becuase I miss some incredibly obvious detail. I suspect black magic.
z3phyr - I'll throw his name out there too. Can't beat him either. In my opinion z3phyr is the most underrated Hero Academy player. Keeps a very low profile.
RawkHawk - He's my brother, so it goes without saying.
I would include the current league leaders - Trip, Seira, Allout, Aratribal - but I don't think I deserve to be ranked among them.
Who is your nemesis?? :)
Double post.
Maybe I'll have a nemesis in the future, but my vision can't look that way :)
Wiktionary says the plural is 'nemeses' or (rare) 'nemesi'
~SK
Edit: There is an edit button... but I like to complain too much.
im not in your list GG? i am dissapoint. I guess i just need to have you rethink when i beat you again :)
but still, your a great player yourself (its a reason why you've been top5 this whole time). Lets just say that brian knew what he was doing when he praised you.
only played 1 game against Seira so i dont have enough "data" to say anything yet.
for me, my biggest nemesis is probably my brother. After just 2 games did he allready own random opponents and he showed me the ropes of the HA world aswell (and introduced me to it). But after i started to play HA we only played around 5 games since he got bored and quit HA afterwards (sadly). Started playing league games right after it and gave me top10 status right away. Im still trying to convince him to start playing again, hopefully i'll manage it one day!
Well zarocka has beaten me every time we play so I suppose he is my biggest nemises, my other nemises is LLanowar, this dude has every team and just (literally less than a minute ago) beat me for the first time, maybe we're more competetive pals than nemises.
Heh, I'd definitely second DrvUMad as a nemesis - I've almost never won on a gamble move against him! (also, playing against him taught me that version 1.0 DE was much weaker than Council)
BrianGraham is another strong opponent I've played quite a few times. I've come out on top a few times, but he's definitely ahead in the win-loss count.
My nemesis is Arizel.
BECAUSE YOUR TRUE OPPONENT IS YOURSELF
or something
NEMESIS ALL THE DWARVES!!!!!
... Seriously. Just about anyone that plays dwarves on the boards is my nemesis. I haven't been playing ranked matches very often though, so I haven't had really good competition.
I'm going to say Blobertson from the forums! He challenged me and I got a lucky win our first game, with him mistakingly bringing out his third priestess to rezz his KO'd second which resulted in them all dying. After that he beat me at least 8 times in a row and even scored a strange love on me ㅜㅜ haha
Ive been meaning to rechallenge you!
You'll always have a special place in my heart Ragna. <3

I am with tabby_nat on this, those DW players are such a nuisance! :P
I do find the matchup very tough from the DE side, but I'm being forced to experiment. I don't know why DW are usually on the good side in fantasy settings, it's pretty clear that they're evil ;)
i feel that people hate me.. tooo much bashing on the dwarves S:
lol :) It's just meant in jest :) After playing a few games as the DW, I am starting to see their weaknesses, I definitely think the matchup is close to balanced, and I know I still haven't tried some alternative approaches.
definatly Skullcrusher123, he tries to start over 20+ games and makes the most stupid moves! im playing my last game with him so than ill probably never have to play him again!

most people at the forums got the same problems. its almost to the point i can count my losses on my fingers during my almost 1 year of playing this game :)
Aslong as people challenge me i wont go anywhere so no worries mate :)
oh and i miss GG :(
Im looking for a good SH player to learn manage ti :P
Atm i dont have any nemesis.... im looking for some1 xD
mmmmmm I would say a friend of mine who keeps beating me no matter what combination or team I use against any of his......
Nemesis of johnjanitor: Traq
Every tournament where the structure allows and we both play - I end up vs Traq. He stops me dead in my tracks every darn game - for fun*, for league, for tourney.
* I may have won one game vs Traq IIRC, but it was just for fun - and if it is the game I recall then I actually plugged a hole in his game just making him better and harder to defeat.
*edit*
Now that this is posted publicly I will lose my next four matches vs Traq because I've already lost the games in my mind. But in that same mind we'll have drinks and laugh with each other.
*edit*
Perhaps a more realistiic archenemy of johnjanitor: johnjanitor
but that's a different story for the TL:DR books.
Speaking of TL;DR....
There's an important distinction between Nemesis vs. Archenemy. This exceprt from an essay: A Decade of Curious People and Dangerous Ideas.
It rarely matters who is on your side; what matters is who is against you. Unlike Gloria Loring, you don't need a friend and you don't need a lover. What you need is (a) one quality nemesis and (b) one archenemy. These are the two most important mechanisms in any human's life. We measure ourselves against our nemeses and we long to destroy our archenemies. They are the catalyst for why we do everything.
Now I know what you're asking yourself: How do I know the difference between my nemesis and my archenemy? Here is the short answer: You kind of like your nemesis, despite the fact that you despise him. You will always have drinks with your nemesis. You would attend the funeral of your nemesis, and -- privately -- you might shed a tear over his or her passing. However, you would never choose to have a cocktail with your archenemy, unless you were attempting to spike the gin with arsenic. If you were to perish, your archenemy would dance on your grave, and then he'd burn down your house and molest your children. You hate your achenemy so much that you keep your hatred secret, because you do not want your archenemy to have the satisfaction of being hated.
If this distinction seems confusing, just ask your girlfriend to explain it in detail; women have always understood the nemesis-archenemy dichotomy. Every woman I've ever known has at least one close friend whose only purpose in life is to criticize their actions, compete for men's attention, and drive them insane; very often, this is a woman's best friend. Consequently, females are always able to find the ideal nemesis (usually without even trying.) Meanwhile, every woman also has a former friend (usually someone from high school with large breasts) whom she has loathed for years and whom will continue to loath with the intensity of a thousand suns, even if she only sees her once every ten years. This is her archenemy. Women intrinsically understand human dynamics, and that makes them unstoppable. Unfortunately, the average man is less adroit at fostering such rivalries, which is why most men remain average; males are better at hating things that can't hate them back (e.g., lawnmowers, cats, the Denver Broncos, et cetera). They don't see the big picture.
Now I'm ambivalent about the Broncos, but I loathe TF2.
alright Writch, what do you have to say or make reference about arch-nemesis ?
but I loathe TF2.
join the club :)

The arch-nemesis is probably best tagged as my arch-enemy's nemesis, thus making him/her likely my nemesis' arch-enemy and thus my mirror self, i.e. in Jungian terms: my Anima's Shadow.
Understood in these analytical psychology terms, our IRL Nemisis would likely be the subject/screen of our own projected ideals of our own anima/animus (or the best-match of our so-called Conscience); and our arch-enemies are those folks that exhibt all that we hate about ourselves, otherwise known as our Unconcious Complexes or a.k.a. Our Shadow.
"Me as my own worst enemy" or the Me as I could be, but not necessarily the Me as I should be - The Individuated Self..
So it is just as you stated - but slightly off the mark - when you ID'd yourself as your own arch-enemy, when actually you are your own arch-nemesis.
Clear?

Clear as mud... as always. ;)
MonkeyWarlock..This guy is on 46 winning game streak(46-0) and its not much of a rivalry as im crap and not much competition but lost count how many times i have lost to him.

Since I mentioned "most underrated Hero Academy player", I feel I should also mention - no one ever talks about Seira, the current league number 2. That guy is GOOD. I beat him the first two times, but those were just silly crystal rush matches on the teleport map, and I felt I got lucky. He masterfully outmaneuvered me in our third game and really showed his tactical powers.
I am still waiting for a showdown between Trip and Seira. But if that happens, we should get a replay. :)
