The Weekly Challenge Compilation Thread
Week 10: Polar Bear Crossing has been added.
Don't think I'm even gonna bother trying this one solo.
If Into the Void is 10 difficulty, this one is 1, maybe 2.
I just did Polar Bear Crossing, and it's not really that hard to beat. Just go for Untouchable, and you can get a good score.
Props to Robot for easily the funnest Weekly Challenge they've done. The wide item selection instead of just 2 with the encouragement of using stuff like the bone *** and mana well that I never use is what I was expecting from the weekly challenges from the start. Fun, but not easy. I hope I see more challenges like this with a wider selection of rarer items.
Here is my run of this week's challenge, if anyone's interested.

I end up in 2nd place.
Week 11: Perfect Servant has been added.
This one looks pretty neat. Alas, my heart currently belongs to Borderlands 2 (which is why it took so long to add this one, incidentally - I just plain forgot).
Week 12: Dark Arts has been added.
...sort of. Not actually done testing it yet. Stuff I'm unsure on is marked with a question mark.
EDIT: And done!
Week 13: Boom Town has been added.
Did you guys know that Boom Barrel Dispensers have a slightly randomized reload time? I sure didn't, until I tried to test what upgrades were on the Trap Reset Trinket!
Yeah. When I started checking the reset times of all the traps, I noticed this one had a bit of jitter in it.
Yep. However it's always within a certain range, at least from a bit of light testing
Level 0: 40-50 sec
Level 1: 35-45 sec
Level 2: 30-40 sec
Level 3: 25-35 sec
Drove me crazy when I was first testing reset times until I started writing them down and seeing the "range".
The range is pretty odd but I like it and I understand why they did it. If you have boom barrels high enough so they explode on impact, it would suck if they all dropped at the same time (as they would if they were all activated by the trap reset trinket, or all bought in the same wave, or recovering from the sappers etc). This keeeps the variation to make the boom barrel dispensers much more viable.
I just loved Boom Town. Best OMD map I've ever played.
A lot of on toes situations.
I never really appreciated boom barrels before.
Week 14: The Gladiator has been added.
And now, a request: I'm going to visit my father for Thanksgiving, which means I may not be able to test out the next two weekly challenges. Is there anyone else who's willing to test the hell out of what the various assorted gear you get to bring does?
A Special Blend
Map: Mirror Image
Character: War Mage
Loadout:
- Ring of Lightning (no upgrades)
- Mana Rage Trinket + upgrades
- Tar Pit (level 3) + Unique 2 (persistent slow effect)
- Grinder (level 3) + Unique 1 (unjams quicker)
- Swinging Mace (level 3) + Unique 1 (swings faster)
- Barricades (level 3) + Unique 2 (self-repair)
Surprisingly easy single player. Tar makes the world go 'round.
AH! But have you tried manaless :)
I have not. That seems very difficult. I figured you got it from your score alone.
AH! But have you tried manaless :)
I did the manaless, and ended up with 116K. I also did the untouchable, but for some reason, the scoring did not register the points. Is it possible to get points for both manaless and untouchable in the same run? Because I was under the impression you could. And if I'm correct, why did the untouchable not register?
I did it earlier this evening, will post the video when it's available.
@StabbyNarwhal : had been a long time since I'd tried Untouchable on a map, and I had forgotten you also need to 5-skull to get it. Tried at first with the barricade setup you used for high-scoring the map so that I could set up a single killbox in the tunnel, but of course that cannot 5-skull.
Maybe that's what you did ?

That's exactly what I did. Dang it.
You, eiterorm, are a scholar and a gentleman, and you have my gratitude. I'll be adding it to the OP shortly.
(Though with mangled wording until I can get back home and look up how it's all phrased in-game.)
Hehe, thanks. I think it's a great idea to keep record of all the weekly challenges. Sorry for not checking the format you're using in the OP. Here are the details of the challenge in the proper format:
Week: 15 (November 23rd to November 29th, 2012)
Name: A Special Blend
Character: Warmage
Level: Mirror Image
Guardians: None
Traps: Barricade (Level 3, Barricades self-repair shortly after taking damage), Grinder (Level 3, Grinder unjams much more quickly), Swinging Mace (Level 3, Swinging Mace swings faster), Tar (Level 3, Tar Trap slowing effect persists birefly after enemies leave the tar)
Trinkets: Mana Rage Trinket (Increased base mana pool, Mana Rage lasts longer)
Weapons: Ring of Lightning
Giving this a bump, since a new challenge should be up now that it's Friday again.
This week's challenge was one of Nananea's suggestions:

The only difference was that the name was shortened to "Boom Go Dynamite".
Ahh... All right, I'll add it to the OP a little later today. Have some Monaco beta testing to do right now, heh.
Not rocket science (shameless plug)
Shame is a weakness!
Week 17: Not Rocket Science added, and descriptions on Week 16 fixed.
I just found out about these weekly challenges. Thanks for providing the list and keeping it updated. Are there ever rewards for doing these?
Week 18: Death Can't Be Bad has been added.
This game really does not like alt-tabbing on a dual-monitor setup.

If you do a weekly challenge on the week it comes out, you get skulls for completing it like you had completed a new stage in addition to bonus skulls. Other than that, just bragging rights.

Wait you're saying that since it's an actual CHALLENGE that you're going to flip your table and give up?!? It's just a game...patience and repitition wins.
No, I'm at a point now where it's just about having fun. These weekly challenges aren't feeling fun anymore. The same maps are being recycled over and over, and every challenge is the same -- "here's a map on Warmage mode with 2-5 themed loadouts. It's really hard solo, but really easy with a partner. Oh, and in a few weeks we'll use the same map with a different 2-5 themed loadout. Good luck."
This is the weakest weekly "challenge" I've encountered on the fun scale. As a matter of fact, I'm not having fun with it at all, so it's just not worth playing for me. You're right, it is just a game... but that's the point. This challenge isn't fun to do in any way, so I AM going to give up on it.
It took me dozens and dozens of tries to get NM Crunch 5 skulled -- but I didn't give up because it was fun to keep trying. This weekly challenge is not fun to do in any way.
