Thank You Robot Entertainment!
This weekend Orcs Must Die 2 did the impossible. For more than 15 years I've been trying to get a friend to play computer games but other than dabbling in some racing games he's just not interested. He hadn't played a shooter since Doom and had no desire to learn KB+Mouse controls. In fact he's been actively avoiding my place for the last 5 months because he knew I was going to be forcing him to play Co-op OMD2. Well he finally caved and brought his laptop over and he was hooked from the first level. Over the weekend we played for a total of 16 hours and finished the game, Story mode, Classic and all 3 DLC. Seriously, even when his laptop rebooted due to overheating he was eager to keep going so we fished out my old laptop cooler and kept playing :)
Actually it's a good thing he waited so long because it was the Dwarven Missile Launcher from the Yeti DLC that really made it for him. As I mentioned he's never even tried KB+Mouse controls before so at the start he was a semi-mobile cannon. He'd stand out in front of the killbox and just blast the bejesus out of everything and retreat through the killbox as things got close. He had a whale of a time and his efforts were enough to get us though the game (tho certainly not 5 skulling).
After 15+ years of forcing games upon my friend OMD2 is the only one he's played through completely and still wanted more. I do hope there is more to come!
