TF2: Pyro's Revenge Phase 2 (Br ...
The flame burns on! I apologize for the delays, I should have been more strict with deadlines etc. from the get go as well as had a schedule in mind. Unfortunately things haven't gone as smoothly as I'd hoped.
Anyway, the 2nd phase begins now. johnjanitor and skeletonmasker have a tiebreaker to play. Willpt and Flameshock, it occurred to me that a tiebreaker might have been necessary, please let me know if you would like to do that this week as well. Otherwise if you start your matches I will assume that you are OK with going ahead. Otherwise here are the match lineups.

3 matches should be played between each set of players, 3 FTAP. The third match should be started by the player with their name listed to the left. I'll be setting a deadline to start the 3 matches within a week of this post, and the turn limit will be 1 week. Traq and omelethead are waiting for the johnjanitor/skeletonmaster tiebreaker to play out. If I don't get an update from johnjanitor/skeletonmaster within this week about whether they want to tiebreak by a coinflip or have started a 3 match tiebreaker, then I'll break their tie by chance and then your matches can start. For everyone else, matches have to start by by the end of a week from this post.
In case you're wondering about the matches, I've decided to set up for example 1st Blue Bunny v the 3rd Red Fluffly, and the 2nd Blue Bunny v the 4th Red Fluffy, etc. I think this is the most suitable format.

Sorry about this Pixel_Tiger, it turns out I made a mistake with Yourtime's results, as he had already qualified for 3rd and that pushed Exobyte to your spot. As a way to make up for that I'll be handing out mini prizes to you and tabby_nat if you continue to play your matches and hopefully cast them as well. I apologize!

If this tournament has taught me anything, it's that TF2 mirror matches suck to a level that is only slightly below Shaolin mirror.

After the tournament, I kinda feel like playing TF2 more, but then I like DE's theme more.. hrrmmmmm
Oh I'm not upset at willpt or anything like that, I just find the TF2 mirror a boredom inducing game. It boils down to a huge turtlefest on both sides, with Spies blocking Snipers. Not fun at all.
Oddly enough, most other mirror match-ups, except Shaolin, aren't that bad at all.

.. I think TF2 matches are fun, but also extremely stressful. My playstyle makes sure things don't get stale, too. If one player is always forcing the other to respond with offense, things get spicy. I'd sooner sacriice a spy or two than retreat and play "shuffle the backfield." Ick.
Thanks MNC_Dover. Do think it was still a bit early to tell if I had the games in the bag but I understand the boredom factor.
I like the match-up; seems generally fun to me. It seems often very, very deap strategically because so many units and strategies have counters. Its true they seem likely to be decided on units, which can be a little bit of a grind, but crystal wins are certainly possible.
The matchup is fun, but if you dont apply pressure constantly with sniper or demo then your opponent can get on the offensive and pull out a move.
As I learned from Flameshock when he made one move with his heavy and pretty much ended the game because I was being so defensive

It's a bit old but I haven't seen it posted here yet. RKRigney was the blogger and he learned a lesson during that match about the barbed crystals of the Tribe Map.

That is a tough map. I got myself into an inferior position in a training game...a training game!...by being too cute with the speed tile and making tecnically favorable trades, but leaving my dwarves under-developed. I did win, but I totally get the unfamiliar strategic decisions issue.

That map is very tempting to zerg out a quick win with a blitzkrieg... and that's coming from a Protoss player.

Feel free to start a match with me. I play casually, but will accept league matches. Since Shaolin is currently persuading me not to choose random like I normally would, I usually choose Dwarves, Dark Elves, or TF2.
