Suggestions for a newbie
So I've played a few Council games (couple vs. the Dwarves, one vs. Council and another vs TF2) -- TF2 raped me! LOL. Anyway, what do you all suggest as my play order? Should I try the DEs out next, then the Dwarves after that, then the Tribe, TF2 and finally Shaolin (AKA release order)?
What's your advice for a new player as far as trying out other teams?
Thanks.
Keep in mind you have to buy Hero Academy on Steam to play the TF2 team
play play & then play some more that's my advice :) also tabby may look cute but she is a very good player so think twice before challenging any of the regulars :)
I'd probably go with Dwarves first as they are probably the easiest to pick up, followed by Dark Elves. TF2 is good if you're playing against other inexperienced players, but if you're playing against better ones, IMO a little more understanding of the team and pre-planning is required that with the other teams. The tribe is hard to learn because the typhoons can really turn the game on its head - it's probably best to get more of an understand of the game before using the tribe as they are also quite tactical. And I'd also probably leave the Shaoin till last. They're definitely the hardest to learn and, at this stage, the decision is pretty much unanimous that they need a buff.
Really though, other than Shaolin, it doesn't particularly matter what order you play them (and I'm sure many people will disagree with me over TF2). Just play whatever one you think looks most fun.
All this is good advice. ^^^ And it's rooted in sound reasoning.
FTR, this tabby has the dangly bits. :D
Anyway, if you want a bit of flavor (and if you want to see exactly how good CL is) play DE - mostly the same, but the little differences will make you appreciate each team more. DE is faster and squishier - you need to be a lot more flexible because units and items often serve multiple purposes. Same for DW - you'll learn PATIENCE and how to defend.
Honestly, try all the teams in whatever order you like, I feel - they each teach you about a different aspect of your favourite team. But whatever you do, I would advise you to play out at least 10 games as that race before moving on - if you team hop, you switch mindsets too often to really learn the race, I feel.
play all of them at once :)
Thanks for all the advice. I will play 10 games as the Council first then will move on to the Dwarves or Dark Elves. :) If I unlock TF2 on steam - can I play it then on my iPhone as well?
yes, you might want to take advantage of the holiday sale they're having too. :)
