Strange issue with my wife's OM ...

Hi guys,
Firstly, Thanks for OMD2, amazing game at an amazing price.
I have purchased several copies during the sale, including for my wife, myself and a friend. and for the most part I've been thrilled.
My copy runs absolutely fine. as does my friends, however my wife's just.. will not work. more specifically...
The game is said to be downloaded and sorted, it loads up, it lets us connect. it lets us launch. after a period of loading, her game says its done. and then loads a skybox. nothing more. she is able to move around in the sense of when I see her hit W, I see her char moving.. but she cant see anything, no action bar, no spellbook, no map, nothing. she see's a skybox and the various sprites around the map (such as from the portal, or when i go to place a trap, she see's the green placer.
I can provide screenshots if needed, but I think the above explains things quite well.
I have tried the following;
Reinstall
Update drivers
copied over my client
nothing has worked thus far. and the strange bit is, when i verify her files for OMD2, it says 1 file is missing and must be downloaded. but then goes right back to playable. nothing downloads. repeating the verification does nothing to this either, it just cycles through. I assume they are related somehow.
 
If anyone could help, I would be most grateful as im dying to place this with the mrs.
