Shaolin combo explained?
I'm sorry if this has been covered somewhere, but I'm having no luck finding it:
How does the Shaolin combo thing work? What do the numbers represent? I gather that each subsequent attack from a unique (?) unit adds some percentage (?) to the attack damage, but I am too lazy to reverse engineer the formula.
Is there a mechanics guide somewhere that I have missed?
I don't think it's been explicitly broken down yet, but my understanding is that it works something like this:
- A single Shaolin attack starts the combo count at one for each damaged unit, but has no other effect.
- A second Shaolin attack from a different unit moves the count to 2, and receives a +200 bonus.
- Each subsequent attack from a new source (going back to a previous attacker doesn't count) advances the combo count by one and receives a bonus equal to n x 200, where n is the combo count on the target PRIOR to that attack.
So, for example, if there are 3 attacking Shaolin units in range, each with 200 base damage, the effective damage after each of them attacked would be
200 + (200 + 200) + (200 + 400) = 1200
I've never gotten to a quad combo, but I'm guessing it would get a +600 bonus.
Has anyone figured out whether Windblade AOE targets get the full combo bonus? For example, a second Windblade attacks the same chain of units -- does the target which gets 50% AOE damage, get the full +200 combo bonus? If so, then Windblade with a potion + second Windblade attacking the same chain would do some significant damage.
I actually did one of these, but I wasnt paying enough attention. It wasnt a good move on the board, but it did do some nice damage.

Based on my tests, it does get the full combo bonus.
Is the bonus 200(s) affected by armor?
Yes it is. You can test this on Shields are Down! challenge.

Cool. I bet this is why Robot limited the Windblade AOE to 50%/25%, but the double windblade move is just too hard to pull off, and requires a potion to approach scroll-effectiveness.

Agreed, but the splash asymmetry is still awkward. Why not just make them both 35%?

Yes, it should be symetric, and 35 or 40% if no buff is required. I suspect a buff to 50/50 would be helpful to the team.
Thanks, guys!

Each subsequent attack adds 200 damage. No crazy mathwork involved. It doesn't matter what order you attack in it just adds 200 damage per combo point.
