Shaolin Performance Ratings Calculated
The League just added Shaolin to our automatic calculation of performance ratings section. As many know, the default start rate of all players in the League is 1200. Trip, our grand champion, is around 1620, and the second lowest ranked player in the League is rated 965. Performance ratings are more reliable than raw win-loss numbers because they adjust for the strength of who is playing which faction.
The Shaolin are rated 1130 going first, and 1093 going second. These are current ratings only . . . we dont yet have enough Shaolin games for our average rating to be valid as to Shaolin. (Average ratings are more reliable, because current ratings bounce around with lucky streaks one way or the other.) The next lowest rating is Council, going second, at 1153 (average rating, with enough games to be reliable).
So...nothing unexpected here, we are seeing that the Shaolin are unacceptably weaker than the other teams, and outside the narrow band of decent balance the other teams occupy, just as expected from the raw win-loss numbers. (In fact, raw win-loss numbers have never steered us meaningfully wrong, and in general appear to be a good proxy for team strength.)
any word from robot either here twitter or FB?
Just the statement on Facebook in response to my post that they are engaged in a discussion with us on this forum and with the League, which they are not, and monitoring their own data, which they may be. Forgiving their inaccuracy (incorrectly claiming they are speaking with us here), what this hopefully means is that they are reading this forum and thinking about the issues.
Has anyone ever done a grid of win-loss records of each team against each other team?
If not, how could I get the data from which such a grid could be made?

A wise man is superior to any insults which can be put upon him, and the best reply to unseemly behavior is patience and moderation.
