Shaolin 7-54 Now
It's because you are tribe. Demands totally different strategy. Tribe doesn't pose a significant AOE threat instead it poses a tsunami threat. Getting the center is a lot harder but consequently one doesn't die to AOE in the meantime, it's probably the easiest matchup - but that doesn't mean the game is in Shaolin favor! ;-)
Also I can't hold the center wi out bamboo... And the bamboo bug prevents me from getting it before the last two tiles. No bamboo, no center map control. It's really as simple as that.

Fair enough.

Also reasonable.
So I guess I'll be rescending my request to Robots for a deodorant patch to address the Tribe B.O. bug.
Well after taking a break from HA I started playing quite a bit more shortly before shaolin was released and have been purely shaolin since it came out. Finally started a few league games with them and so far I'm 3-0 with 3 or 4 other games going. The others are all still close with exception of one vs TF2 that I am going to lose. Every game ends up as a turtle fest. I box what's left of my team around the last crystal I have and slowly pick them off. Granted I'm roughly a 1200 player and the games have been mostly 1200 and lower opponents and none against dwarves. Here's a funny pic of my last win all nice and turtled up.

They are 14-81 in League play now. Performance ratings still around 1100.
I PM'd SixOkay to say that the community would like some input.

Thanks for sharing, BiA85.
Do you feel then that shaolin is strong enough if played correctly?
Do you feel that shaolin does not need changes?
Do you find Shaolin fun?
They need help. I do like playing as them but the strategy I've been using is basically poisoning anything and everything I can so as to take advantage of any mistakes that are made. As has always been said they struggle heavily to heal through aoe damage. Would be nice to be able to not group up so much but if you want to use the combo bonus you got to group up. I also find myself having to get so many units out to get the stuff I need. The dragons are awesome. I've used them together to steal and save a few super units. also used them together to win my SL vs SL game by killing his 2 remaining poisoners to help turtle my way to victory. They can be great in the end game with the right units left. But overall they need help. In my games I usually get a +3 windblade +3 poisoner +2 shadow and then save the last sword till closer to the end. Sacrificing anything else that isn't a healer or a poisoner. I think maybe some kind of aoe heal kind of like a grenadiers damage would be neat. Heal a target and there's an explosion of holy energy that heals surrounding squares by a %. But anyways...I enjoy them but playing as them if I win the game takes 60-90 rounds which seems a bit excessive.
Hmm. Fits with my experience of SL being excellent turtlers. Intuitively, I expect TR and DE in particular to have a bad time vs SL - any TR players care to weigh in? I know my DE is having a bad time.

Only if I already blew both my typhoon wads on them trying to get at their Shadow. So either way, it's expensive - you're going to put a lot of green skin in the game, and hope they don't play close to perfect.

I did have in one game vs DE that they got two void monks out early and both had helmets and soul gems and sword upgrades. It was terrible for the longest time and the only way I managed to reverse it (and actually win the game) was by swarming the VM.
basically it's hive warfare, I just moved a monk I front of him, smacked it and then put a wind blade also close to him but not within the same direction/cone as the monk. So he had to choose each time, KO/Stomp to monk Or the wind blade... Eventually with many more guys dead than just his two VM on my side, the VMs were killed. By the time he got Necrosis out I still had poisoned and my shadow and is worked out in my favor.
so while I agree that Shaolin are underpowered, you can still beat DE VMs if you are willing to sacrifice guys to do so. The key is that ou can never hang out and wait to be bombarded by AOE, and this applies in all games. I only did well vs ArtNJs Dwarves because I never relented on the pressure. It's the only way you can even hope to keep the mid field. Relax the pressure, and you will take AOE damage.
Oh and set your guys up in square formations. So Taoist on the left, windblade or poisoner two spaces to the right and then two spaces beneath it, do the same. If you are in this pattern AOE is nullified. It just forces you to run with very few units, but at least you don't have to worry about mass healing when clearly you can't. You only have two potions and you will need those to recover from the innevitable moments when it just isn't practical to be arranged in an open square formation.
And yet, in OUR game, your Shaolin are hanging back, and on the wings - not at "taking and holding the center." Is it because of my Tribe, or because I forgot to shower this morning?
