Is the priestess supposed to heal through line of sight? Or have all healers been able to do that and its just never come up for me?

Note that a Shadow can't use it's special with blocked LOS.

Yes! Thats exactly what messed me up. I couldnt rez with a shadow, so i thought it frustrating when the preistess raised and healed past LOS.

That's because the Shadow's special is not healing, or really resurrection per se. Think of it as conversion, like the Necromancer's special.

iirc the necro can phantom-raise a knocked out unit despite blocked LOS?

Nope. Not possible to range stomp through LOS.
All healers can do it, it just comes up much more frequently for the priestess because of her extended range.
