Petition for Co-Op
I do not say this game NEEDS a co-op, but it would definitely benifit greatly if it did have one. OMD is a game that would be just incredibly fun to play with a friend on skype in which crazy situations occur and you laugh all time. Adding a co-op would just be brilliant.
Indeed, it will be over 9000.
Voting for co-op.
Awesome game must have awesome co-op.
Voting for co-op.
+1 for co-op
Just registered to say this: Co-op neeeded!!! I would buy one adittional copy (At least) if this were a game with a cooperative mode <3
Orcs must die! is a nice game, but when you end the game you start wishing new challanges, like the option to play with friends, increasing the difficulty as well, maybe introduce some bosses in the co-op mode. Would be very nice, some new DLC's to play co-op but dont just in the castle maybe some outside defense, like in the town, maybe some dragon fight.
Srry for my bad english
I looked up this forum just to propose co-op mode for this game. Glad to see that this idea has already crossed many people's minds.
Please add co-op!
I need co-op please
is it currently under development ?
I love this game <3
Didn't read the other pages but ya Co-op or something like a Vs would make me kick my GF's butt and play more with me for sure.
If anything a split screen Vs that decides winner on scores and you can pick going into either The Orcdomizer (Randomly selects 9 things for you to play with in a random zone with a random player!) or the Challenge. (Where you go into a room that shows other players and you can challenge a certain person and pick the conditions of the match)
Haha maybe im getting a little too ahead of myself with the Vs too but ya anything that incorporates others into my game would make a lot more people interested and buy everything OMD has to give, including me.
Signed! Oh, sir, Signed!
This game is saying for co-op. It will be good, if I can play OMD with my friends.
If this game will have co-op, many people buy this game to play with their friends.
With a Weaver rework, it would be possible to create a coop play with the current traps.
One player could specialize into piercing traps and guardians while the other specialize into physical traps and magic.
Share the gold aswell...
I do not think this game needs co op, there is nothing in this game that would require 2 players or benefit from it.
This Game needs and endless waves mode or something similar.
This Game needs and endless waves mode or something similar.
I most definitely agree with the endless wave mode suggestion, but I feel as though an endless wave would benefit a lot more from co-op than the campaign itself.
This game really does scream out for a co-op mode. Package it up as a DLC and sell it to us, we will gladly give you our money! Please, take our money! I don't care if it's tacked on and fiddly and works really oddly, it would still be a huge amount of fun!
I can also see that there are a significant number of design decisions to be made in regards to co-op that would have a large impact on how the game played. Things such as whether or not money is shared in a single pot or each war mage has their own, and the same question as to earning money. Do players own the traps they set and earn all the gold from their kills or share it? How do you balance players competing instead of cooperating vs enabling a player to basically mooch off the other and do nothing? Personally I think it best to err on the side of allowing mooching as I think most of us want to play with our friends anyway. But it would also be nice to have a competative co-op mode where each war mage is a bit more independent and has to earn their keep. I'm sure there's a whole slew of other issues that would have to be worked out to make the co-op truly robust.
BUT... that's exactly the sort of thing that would be perfect for a sequel. Please consider giving us a basic co-op in the current game too as a DLC. It would be most welcome. But also PLEASE be thinking about a sequel to this game with robust co-op game modes. I'd also really really like to have some customization options for our War Mage. That would go right along with the co-op allowing us to create our own War Mage and bring them along. It doesn't have to be RPG level customization like Skyrim or some MMO's or anything. But let us pick male or female, and maybe a couple clothes and hair options to differentiate ourselves a bit and maybe have a skill tree to add some customization to our abilities other than just our equipment. For that matter you could sell outfits and other cosmetic stuff just like the TF2 hats and have another revenue stream. If I could actually play this online with friends I'd be interested enough in customizing my War Mage to consider paying for things.
There is just SO MUCH potential here! Honestly I think a lot of us would pay triple A title prices for a game like that and it could have even more popularity and longevity than the original game. Basically it's just such a good game that we want moar! lol We're not content to just beat the game, 5 skull all the levels, beat them all on nightmare, and compete with each other for high scores... We still want more! Pretty please, kind sirs, and possibly madamses... ;p <3
Too late for a DLC like that, it's tons of work to add co-op. If they want to do it, it will be for OMD 2.
I'd say it's only too late for a co-op DLC if OMD 2 is already in production or would be going into production during the development of the DLC. I don't know what Robot's plans are regarding OMD 2, but I am totally cool with waiting for OMD 2 for co-op as long as it's not a project they aren't even going to start working on for 2 years. I think if OMD 2 isn't going to be released for something like 3 to 5 years then it would be worthwhile for them to do a OMD 1 co-op DLC just to keep people's interest, because I guarantee people will keep playing this game for several years if there is co-op, but without... hmmm... Most people probably loose interest after they have 5 skulled most maps and tried nightmare.
Like I said, totally fine with waiting. Just so long as it's not tooooooo long a wait.
Co-op is too much work for a DLC because it involves client/server code (without talking about the PS360...) and a gameplay which works with 2 players.
They should take a look at Torchlight and follow the same business model. Release a first single player game to see how people like it, they improve the quality with a second game.
If we see OMD 2, I hope it's before 2 years, 1 year would be great.
tl;dr version : +1 for Co-op.
Long version :
What i really look for is the Survival/Endless Mode. I want to see how good i can hold it until i'm slaughtered tee hee.
2nd in my wish list is the VS mode just for the lolz, and by VS i mean one is controlling the orcs and the other is playing the war mage. I know it will be difficult because you must balance both forces so they have the same chance of winning, but yeah at the very least i want a chance to play as the orc attacker, even if its only against a preset computer defended WarMage.
But of course Co-op Mode will be good, its always good to have some laugh and massacre together with friends. Nothing beats the fun together with your gamer friends and i'm sure this will bring a whole lot new experiences and fun. You can be stunned together by the swing of the ogres, you can cry for help to your friends while bringing along a whole pack of Hunters to him/her, and watch him/her die as the consequences, then you are being shouted at while you cry laughing, i dont know, it will really be fun. Best part of it? It dont need another level designs or additional trap types, so zero efforts for the creative department, at the same time bringing a whole new bunch of players, with legal or pirated copy of the game.
But personally i dont really care for co-op mode in this type/genre of game. I dont know, i just think that playing OMD fortresses with someone or a bunch of other people will reduce my fun since i wont kill so many orcs anymore. And shared orcs mean shared money, and thats mean diminished traps/guardians i can throw at them. Well, maybe the devs will use different maps for co-op later but for now i dont really see the need to bring other war mages to help me in some/all fortresses.
Um, well, playing with other war mages will be fun if we pick different weavers yes, but if all of us pick the same weaver in a map, i think it now become some unnecessary competition for say, the one who can first place their killbox on the best spot, or whatever. But still it will be fun though.
Ciao
That's why I think that the primary co-op mode should not have any sort of trap ownership. The traps and all trap kills would be shared by both players, and both would earn the points and gold from them.
You could still split the kills and points earned from combat, though when traps and combat are counted you'd have to count the traps to both players. In other words one player sitting there swinging away would be adding to the combo #'s for himself, but not for the other guy, thus getting higher score and money.
The issue I see with that is it just forces both players to mind the kill box to grind up the combos and that means basically duplicating everything. Both players want to place their own lightening cloud, both want to use blade, both may attempt weapon switching, ect... And all that means they are going to be killing a lot of orcs too fast that take a hit from one player, then a hit from the other, ect.
I'd rather see both players cooperating. So one goes crossbow and the other uses blade, one lays down a fire wall, and the other a thundercloud, and they both benefit. Also consider that having two players means they can each bring different traps and have a lot more variety of traps. You could essentially create the optimum kill box without having to worry about whether you can bring enough trap types, and still bring several weapons as well.
Mainly I want to see 2 player co-op right now as that seems like the best fit for the current game design. The game should probably just have shared gold or at least split gold earned between all players rather than duplicating gold for each player. I think 4 player co-op might require new levels, but may work on the larger maps I guess. Of course you also have to ramp up the difficulty with more players and that's tricky to balance. Of course if we're talking about OMD2 then there's plenty of time to do it right. I just hope they work in co-op early and start play testing early as well.
I agree with co-op.
It's a great single player game, I loved it after played demo.
If possible without re-write the entire game code, ti will be a great update.
This means: old customers happy and new people buy the game.
Anyway, excellent work Robot Entertainment :-)

I do believe this game needs a co-op. Most definitely. I would even pay a couple bucks extra, if need be, for DLC that provides co-op on all of the previous and any new (if they decide to add any more) fortresses.
I rate this game 10/10.
Multiplayer would make it over 9000. Out of 10. 9000/10.
