Outside the (kill)box: More cash tac ...
You guys must have noticed getting a coin bonus during a wave for fast clearance, a counter-intuitive practice for high scoring, since you'll be giving up combos. For the Pit however, when I start the map, I run upstairs to the right, put two barricades down to block that path, run down the stairs again, cast lightning and kill the kobolds and sappers before the gnoll's howl. When that happens, I get 600 coins. That bonus makes sure I can start wave 2 with a more set up arsenal than without and I start raking in higher combos from the get-go. The 4x/5x combos make up for the missing 3x on the enemies in the first wave.
I remember getting a 3000 coin bonus on Chaos Chamber when I was 5-skulling maps, but I'm not sure in which wave (I believe this happens after a couple of kobolds). I do remember it was downstairs, at the lava. The war mage has a remark like 'break time' or 'that was fun', which he normally says in between waves.
I think figuring out these kinds of bonuses for each map and weighing the bonus against possible combos can be key to getting to the full trap setup up and running ASAP. And give archers that desired burning pitch upgrade. HowdyDoody tried to get the cash up quickly with the coin forge on the Baths, but he sacrificed an expensive slot for that.
I suspect that packs of kobolds carry the highest bonus with them (perhaps as an offset to their low coinage). This means that maps with kobolds in wave 1 might get interesting again :)
Intense run! That wouldn't be feasible on NM because of the ogres in wave 3 and 4 I guess ;)
The 3000 coin bonus is at 5.08 and I think you could get that on NM as well.

I completely agree, on NM I had to put my killboxes right next to the rift up and down the stairs to get by!
Sprinting towards the doors on the Corner firing two lightning bolts at the kobolds nets a 500 coin bonus. Or an archer if you will.
The extra coins that you get "mid round" aren't really extra. If you kill all of the orcs that spawned, before the rest of wave spawns back beyond the door, you'll get coins as if you beat the wave. At the real end of the wave, you won't get them again. So you're just getting your wave end bonus early for killing all of the orcs that have spawned, but not the entire wave.
If that makes sense. So it's not really any extra coins, you just get the wave end bonus early.
Ah ok, that does make sense! Good to know that there is no substantial gain here!
