OMD 2 - Really low FPS issue + bad l ...

I've been playing OMD2 for quite some time now and after 30 minutes or so of gameplay the fps starts going down.
But it doesn't stay that way, it starts going up and down even in menu or spellbook.
I start playing with 70-80 FPS and in 30 minutes or so it goes to 10-15 and sometimes below 10.
I tried changing the settings without luck and I also reinstalled the video driver.
I checked the temperatures and it's not overheating since it bearably reaches 60 degrees in full load (45-50 in idle).
I only experienced something similar with Torchlight 2 but not like this.
This is happening every single time but especially in endless mode, after wave 25 or so, when the level gets crowdy.
Also, in the last 3-4 days I noticed that the loding takes ages. I takes about1-2 minutes to get the Main Menu and after I click Play I have to wait another 1-2 minutes to actually load the game.
Any way to fix this?
I'm running Windows 7 SP1 x64, all updates installed, on an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 2.50Ghz CPU, GeForce 285GTX 1GB VRAM DDR3 + 8 GB RAM.
All drivers are up to date.
Sorry for my late reply this time, I just saw this. I checked the system a few timesbefore that and after and nothing showed up. The 2 minutes loading screen issue is gone and it seems it was something temporary, probably it was related to my Internet connection or my partner's since it only happened in co-op.
However, I can't get rid of the low FPS issue. Tried even on lowes settings, it's still there. Usually, this happenes when the map gets crowdy. For example, if I hide somewhere where there are no orcs I get back to 50 FPS or so in 5 seconds. Get back to where the action is and I get the low FPS instantly so I can't play more than 90 minutes or so without getting a headache.
Any ideas?
I tried getting some help from Steam users but didn't help.
Sorry for the response delay. This seems like something may be wrong with your disk or a related system. The game definitely shouldn't take 2 minutes to load a level. It may be that after you get to a certain point, the game is trying to load something from the disk and that's causing you the slow down.
