New DLC?
I check the RobotEntertainment-Hompage daily hoping they are releasin another awesome DLC, but after more than one month I am asking me whether the game is finished ??
Another DLC? I was actually hoping to hear more about a possible OMD3 rather than a new DLC.
I was looking forward to a DLC for Christmas...Robot pls :P
I was hoping for a "12 DLC's of Christmas!" Not really holding my breath on THAT one though. ;)
I'm getting itchy without my fix....
I want a caster guardian so bad, so bad.
gimme weavers as summonable guardians, please, pretty pretty please.
Or a guardian with gnoll AI who goes around chasing.
.. Or I hope they'll make the hobgoblin resurrect your guardians if you manage to capture one, it would be rewarding, rather than completely wasting a shroom.
I hope new DLCs are as good as yeti DLC which was easily the best DLC so far.
I agree with 'luckygreentiger', maybe time for something new like taking the OMD2's 3rd person shooter gameplay and applying it to a big outdoor battle field were teams can go head to head with weapons and spells and also place structures and items (instead of traps) and summon and command various AI mobs, and you could have the weavers back to give you 'god powers', upgrades and 'ordinance drops' kind of thing. I think that would be pretty awesome.

That sounds like it would be awesome, but definitely out of the scope of this game. That would require major changes to the underlying game, and that's not what DLC's are. They're "downloadable content", ie they're not cahnging the nature of the game. They have to be able to be applied with minimal changes to the underlying framework of the game. So a new trap, a new enemy, that works! The game already has traps and enemies. But to accomodate major changes like this open battlefield play you're suggesting would require the game itself to be changed, and that's a bit too much to ask for for a $5 DLC download.
But fingers are crossed for OMD3!

I know :-) I meant it to be a new game rather than new dlc.
I do however have an idea for OMD2 dlc that focuses on guardians. It could add another gardian or two and also add a special upgrade for existing guardians such as Dwarves having an extremely powerful but shortrange gattling gun (with a short cool-off inbetween firing), Archers getting a secondary melee stun attack with plain, fire or poison swords to match their primary attack and Paladins with lightening swords that sometimes chain.
A new guardian could be a vampire bat that hangs from the ceiling and swoops down, stuns a couple of enemies and then picks up small a enemy into the air and drains it's health then drops it dead. :D
Even if the game is done then I would think OMD3 is a long ways away. First you would have to ask, what makes the game better and how could it be taken forward? How can they add to the game whithout taking away it's charm? OMD2 was probably easier to think of what they wanted to do. New characters, Co-op, Endless mode, unique Upgrading system. OMD3 doesn't seem like it will be as easy to come up with, let alone make. Persoanlly I hope Robot takes their time with it and works on more projects to get their name out there more and become a bigger company. IMO.
The reviewers of OMD2 marked it down because it felt like it was a dlc not a "new game" .. this just shows why you should nvr listen to reviewers as those people are not gamers. The only reason OMD2 exixtsis that they needed to make a massive alteration to the UI to add new features. like the new spell book, level select / campaign select system. There was just no way to do that with out a new version it was the logical step.
Worst thing robot could do is to over complicate the game.. adding crap like open world or rpg elements or w/e.
Why dose a squeal need to "push boundaries".. just give us more traps, maps, mobs and a better spellbook and possibly steamworkshop support for custom maps. If they want to do something crazy do it in a new IP. What makes OMD2 great is that it is a "game" not something like darksiders II were you are just mindlessly mashing your way though a story line.. the LACK or story is what makes this game great, the LACK of complexity is what makes this game great... the fact that you play it for a reason (score / skulls).. not to just to make it though to the next cut sequence.
Make a squeal.. please.. but it would be a terrible mistake to push the game away form the original 2 though new fancy mechanics.
^^^^^^^^ this this this this this, especially paragraph 3
Haven't got anything to add to that apart from to agree that Robot MUST NOT add stuff like open world/RPG. This game is amazing at what it does, probably the best, and needs nothing more than new maps, new traps and new spells. That's it. Also as jynks said, the lack of a story makes this game great and the moment this game becomes linear (i.e. can't pick & choose levels, more emphasis on storyline) it will lose so much of what makes it awesome.
The OMD story is good and the delivery is good...it focuses more on gameplay than cutscenes. This game does SO many things right, please don't fix what isn't broken. I trust you guys!
Edit: Tar is broken.
I break everything. Even when it's not broken.
Everything except your big fat ego.
+1 for truth

While I'm not trying to be negative nancy, I agree that they do good things on gameplay, and have only a few flaws, BUT, those flaws are highlighted and can be extremely frustrating at times
The 3 that spring to mind are the camera / crosshair problems (when it shoots where you're not even looking at), the lack of statistics (check signature if you don't know what I'm talking about), and the broken headshot detection (while it's not as important as the 2 other mentioned above because the crossbow is not mandatory anymore, it is an extremely big issue when you actually use the crossbow, but this actually relates to the first problem of camera / crosshair).
Everything except your big fat ego.
If it aint broke....
I wonder if there's any news regarding this? :-D.. I would love for a couple more DLC's to be released.
I dunno... they were releasing them at around 1 per month, and we haven't seen anything for a while now.
options for playing with more than just one other friend.
points to consider:
* keep the main focus on 3rd person tower defense
* i like the tar traps; and i play both characters (or create a slime trap that is like tar-lite)
* traps on staircases
* maps with 3 or 4 spots (just split money evenly)
* "dueling" modes where 1-2 players time attack versus another set of 1-2 players
* new storyline and locales (the main one has been wrapped)
* maybe even another mode altogether where 3-4 players can death match (not main focus, but the capability is there)
* capture the flag mode (or capture the orc skull as the case may be) sort of like how Monday Night Combat did it
* all new maps, with new stories and new actors; use a map format that allows for map editors so the community can participate more
* formalizing "onslaught"
* more money/freeplay/arcade mode that is not scored/leaderboards
none of these modes have to be the main focus, but it could add to the games. and don't limit yourself to thinking inside the boxes (or barricades as the case may be). because like white men, orcs apparently can't jump.

If we follow the "period of release" we might have the new one in about 2 weeks.
Hopefully the difficulty will be an actual interesting difficulty, requiring more than finding the hard countering trap and spamming it because of how dumb the waves were.
Well, why not have more numbers in OMD2?
No really, why not?
