Just to Clear Up the TF2 Issue
This will hopefully help people understand why TF2 isn't on iOS and costs $5. If you think RE is being greedy with TF2, please read the rest of this post. :)
[beginning rant]
Since people still complain about the $5 for TF2 deal, let me make it clear that this is NOT robot being pay-to-win. This is Valve(creators of Steam and TF2) getting their share of money from intelectual property rights. Valve won't let robot move thier(Valve's) team off of Valve's platform(Steam) because then Valve woudn't get any money from the purchase of TF2. However, RE(robot entertainment) tried to make it easier by releasing it for Mac and PC, so virtually anyone with it on iOS can get TF2. You pay $5 (I'm guessing: 3$->RE 2$->Valve), you get $10 value. ($2 team, $3 TF2 avatar pack, 2x $1 council avatar pack, $3 council avatar pack; 2+3+[2*1]+3=10) So RE gets >$5, and you get $10 value... you aren't getting ripped off, if anyone, RE is.
On the issue of pay-to-win, TF2 can be beaten by other teams, there are lots of games where someone who doesn't pay CAN'T win, this isn't one of them.

:)
You know, it might be possible - Apple does take a 30% cut after all. HMMMMmmmm.
Hi
I feel someone should insert, the views on the forums are our own, we are no way affiliated or fraternise with RE, any and all indication they do not want to pay apple are our views of the forums dwellers!
Anyway I brought the discounted gold pack when it was first released on steam, worked out the same as buying all teams on iOS (or very similar) with some avatar packs to boot.
Tf2 isn't some god team, they need a small appropriate nerf, such as jarate expires after x turns, but I can beat them and get beaten as them once in a while.
Thanks!
RE can't possibly confirm or deny any of this. They have a relationship with apple. If they came out and said "yeah we're giving apple the finger" they'd possibly have their game disappear of iOS. Remember the youtube app on ios5 remember the incredibad maps app on ios6. Unless you're more powerful than apple you do not wanna get on their bad side.

I agree with you, Networker1, 100%. This is the reality of the situation. I, personally have happily paid RE for most everything they sell, on iOS, and now that they're on Mac, on Steam. I did bi1ch that TF2 was PC-only, since I don't have one, but it wasn't the money. I want RE to get paid for what they do, because they won't invest effort in it, if they aren't getting a return.
However, RE still has a PR problem. RE will never get a chance to present the above message to the casual player, cuz casual players are not going to read this. Currently the typical casual user tries HA for free on iOS, quickly discovers they can buy other teams for $2. Eventually they run into TF2, a team which exudes massive firepower and unbelievable range and movement and worse, breaks the 5AP rule. Then this casual player learns the team is only available on some obscure game system, (yes, gamers know Steam but your average iphone user doesn't) and costs 5$...
Those of us on this forum know it isn't a conspriracy, that RE made a deep deal with Valve, melding the Hero Academy and Team Fortress brands, clever as a Shakira-Beyonce duet, we also know that TF2 is beatable if you use tactics diffierent from what works on the other teams, but the casual user, fending off a heavy machine gun with a wimpy little sword, feels that it is very callous pay to play.
Maybe not a complete solution, but a step in the right direction is to make it so that playing against TF2 is not actually playing at a disadvantage.
Tf2 is only really a disadvantage if you're playing as someone like shaolin. Tabby can beat my TF2 with DE. Trip can beat my TF2 with DE. Hell I've beaten a randoms TF2 with SL. I'm tired of people saying that TF2 is op. Step 1 to beating TF2 is to stop trying to trade with them unit for unit. They have more units than you, understand this, Second, Know that they have 2 medics, only 2. Bait them out by getting a spy or some other valuable unit into a crappy position then when the medic comes to heal it, pounce.
Al this is clear-sighted and correct analysis. But right now I'm about to make related point but not about TF2. It's about Shaolin.
RE is taking money for Shaolin and it doesn't really matter for how much, or to who else they are obliged to split that money with . RE charges full rate for a cheap-quality product - a paraphrased point that ArtNJ made elsewhere on another topic-thread.
So Networker1 is right.
And Adaza is also right.
ArtNJ... thrice-over right.
RE took money for a broken product and are taking their sweet, long time to fix it.
That ain't right.

Agreed, but i can see why balancing takes them awhile, it would be nice if they could communicate further!
the shaolin team is a mess, not that you lose with them every time, but in the fact none of there units really work together, i mentioned to someone in one of my games 'the only way to win with them is to take other teams units'
They need to decide how they actually want the team as oppose to some grey area inbetween as it is now, they can focus on stealing other teams units, which means they need to make the shaolin Shadow focused or they need to every unit a chance to kill a unit (anyone sick of a 10hp unit with poisoner + shadow?) to then use a slightly nerfed shadow to take controll and hopefully win!
They did take money for a slightly odd and non functioning product, they need to give the team a focus, they can work well together but the oppotunities are too scarst to be of relevance, again either the team is on Teamwork or Single unit obliteration, it seems they havnt quite picked!
anyway i may have to stop ranting soon (not likly) and the current bamboo bug sortof makes it useless as last min remote stomp or assult bonus is rarely helpful
ps sorry for the number of spellling mistakes (pun intented that time) im alittle sleeeeepy!

True.
Last week I purchased TF2. I have too many games going on right now, but I created a random game as TF2. The random never moved. I'll try texting with him, and see if I can convert him to a better attitude about TF2. I'll let you know.

Not only that, the game has gone for 50% off already on Steam ($2.49) and may even go for 75% off ($1.24) on the Steam winter sale that starts on the 20th. That would give you the TF2 team, their avatars, the Council, and the Council avatars for $1.24-$2.49, about the price of a single team on iOS.
When the Shaolin were released, you could get them on iOS for $1.99, or get them + their avatars on Steam for $1.99 (I just checked, and the Shaolin team is STILL at $1.99 right now, maybe Robot wants us to buy the new teams on Steam? Larger cut of the money? lol. For some reason, only the Shaolin are discounted (and their base price is $3.99, unlike the other teams' $4.99), so maybe Robot does get more money from people buying on Steam.)
While releasing TF2 only on Steam brought up the issue of not being able to acquire all teams on iOS, it will probably let us get everything Robot releases for cheaper on Steam.
