Ideas for next update! Rebalance
Ok... I love this game. And ive always wanted to have team games. I know the maps are too small currently, but thats the whole point of ideas for an update. I'm talking about 1 map for 2v2 or 1v1v1v1, 3v3, 2v2. Every person i talked to about this agrees, that that would be awesome. Another problem is games well take too long, and i think they should make a timer on the game but i think there should be pauses i think there should be a time zone in which people vote for it, and it turns on the timer.... Just to make things faster, and if it happpens to skip a turn, i think. They should get a slight increase in defense for a little while, and/or an extra action(s) point. Also i didnt think about this myself but an idea would be able to turn off crystals. This is another idea i thought of: because they have customize which honestly i thought was a huge let down because i thought i could make my own team. But i realize now i don't want to make my own team (i actually do but i dont know who that would work in this game) so instead how about we make our own course, for when we are playing on the home court we make our own course. Of course everything has to be symmetrical. And in fact say the tribe has the barbed crystals you would have to buy the tribe to put it on the course. Thats about it but something not as important as those can be. What has always been bugging me is that the cleric on the council has no special power. The team bonus for council is stronger reviving, and potions can revive... So if thats there team bonus then what does she do? Nothing at all. And i mean the council is (i think anyway) no where close to being overpowered. So why dont they give a small extra ability that gives them blah blah % of full health to max health. It worked in a single heal... Say my knight went down and my cleric starts reviving him and in 1 continuously healing turn it adds to max hp by a certain percent. But there of course should be a limit. Oh and if you havnt already join my tournament! Feel free to critique and/or compliment my ideas. Now honestly i do feel like the the teams do need to be rebalanced here is my personal preference for each team:
Council: There are all fine except the cleric!
Dark Elves: this team is fine just the way they are but these are ideas to improve them (if anything they are slightly underpowered). Ok so they they make phantoms a very weaker version of the wraith, allowing him to eat its opponents and growing stronger, gaining only defense and hp then i believe the dark elves would fully fulfill the set picture of growing stronger overtime. And 2nd they let the wraith teleport to the dead bodies of both enemy team and opposing team... This may make them too good but overtime if they need the dark elves to be too good this is what i suggest.
Dwarves: Sadly this is the most overpowered team it is sad because they isn't much to do to make them worse. But for one is make the grenadier have less damago with aoe. That is the same with the annihilator. That is about all i want taken from that team. And maybe lower the paladin health regain for healing just a teeny bit.
Tribe: the only thing they should do is make the witch explode bodies with more damage. What they could do is improve the chieftain damage. But that could make them overpowered.
Tf2: they are also overpowered... I dont think as much as the dwarves but they need changing. I think for a lot of them there melee should suffer, such as the medic, and engineer, sniper. Another one that i wouldn't like would be the demoman because he would be to much like grenadier. That i think would be a enought because then it causes a weakness in tf2. I personally think the sniper should be improved so i think they need a 5% more from offensive improvements. So if a medic links power with a sniper then it get 5% more. But they would have to also have to decrease sniper crouched shot.
Shalon: just need to get that bamboo bug fixed and allow the monk to move an extra tile.
Worse case scenario. Non-random group match of 4 players is set up. Each take a week to make a turn. That' means it's a month before you take your turn; and that's just one round. Now consider each game takes at least 20 rounds. That's 20 months worse case (almost 2 years!).
Just look a the Epic East vs. West game that's been half-a-year so far - that's the kinda of dynamic you can expect.
Ok so your sayinf each game will take a month to finish... I dont think so because the people i want to play are the people i already know and im pretty sure people would play continuously. And besides people will be able to group discussions. If that doesnt seem good then i dont what else they would do for updates except making new teams, rebalance teams, fix bugs and re-fix bugs... That seems a little boring.
Soooo adding new teams is "boring",hmmm most would tend to disagree :)
Let's be honest. If you rework the game so much as you suggested - in so many ways - basically you're asking for a different game (I'm not talking about the balance suggestions - they're sound, as many folks have made the same or similar).
But want to evolve HA into a new game, that's not a bad thing, you just have to recognize it for what it is. So I bet there is a game out there that does what you and your friends want it to do. You all just haven't stumbled upon it yet. And it may not be ideal on the portable iOS platform.
It's like all those people that wanted to make custom maps for Starcraft and we ended up with the Tower Defense genre. Or all the mods to Warcraft III that produced League of Legends.
All you're really wanting to salvage from Hero Academy is the art and the mechanics. Hero Academy was made as a casual-niche game, not a MMO-epic RTS wanna-be.
Please don't take my comments as attacks but constructive criticism. I work as a software engineer and the field is rife with users wanting to add to or enhance systems way beyond their original intent, when the best idea is to sit down and redesign the with the new requirements (or in your case - wishlist) from the ground up.
Good Luck in your search.
Hey Ninja X 007, if you're looking for a game similar to Hero Academy that can do team games and realtime, check out Bang Howdy (www.banghowdy.com). It's also a unit-based strategy game, except it's a modified realtime version with slightly different goals. Its community has all but died out, but if you could grab a friend and try out some games, perhaps you might like it. It's free to play =)
Ok. U see im just throwing out ideas because thats just what i do. And the changes i made doesnt change the overall gameplay. I mean its still a chess sort of theme to it. I am just pulling ideas to improve it. I did say i didnt think all would be an improvement. I just want people taking it into consideration. I mean beauty is the eye of the beholder.

I am against team matches. Every team has it's weakness which should not be filled by other friendly team's advantage.
