[IDEA] Opt-in Email Notifications fo ...
As a PC-exclusive player I think this would improve my HA experience quite a bit.
Leaving the app open in the background is fine if I'm doing work on the PC for a while, but if I'm playing another resource-intensive game or haven't thought to open the client, it might be nice to be reminded / notified that I have moves waiting.
Default opt-out + opt-in as an option would minimize spam for those who don't need the feature.
I can think of nothing more horrifying than getting +40 email a day telling me it's my turn, just ask in the forums for a live game I would say its simpler

What a Wild Writch appeared on the forums? KILL IT KILL IT WITH FIRE!
If you're doing something else that requires the resources or your attention, can't you just check later when you have the time? I'm confused why you would need something like this?
@writch 100% jelly
@calcal06 hence opt-in / toggle :). also, it would be more useful for truly asynchronous games. you wouldn't need it for live games.
@deign well, yes. if I keep the game open 24/7 (annoying; I don't like non-functional clutter in my start bar. I can't be alone in that respect, right? maybe if it was hidden in the Windows notification area on the right)...or, if i've remembered to start the game after a fresh reboot / work.
Didn't expect so much vehement opposition. Guess I'm the odd one out! There have been instances where I've gone over a week without opening the game, simply because I've forgotten about it. Or on the flipside, I'll load the game up and find out I have nothing waiting for me. Not the end of the world, just a little inconvenient.
Not vehement opposition. I just hate spam in my email =P
Even though I also play on iOS I would toggle this feature on steam if it was available.
This is a really great idea. I just got the game with the anniversary sale, and I'm shocked there's no email notifications. It wouldn't be a big deal if the Android version was out, but as I'm only playing sparingly with friends, email notifications would make things much easier.
Yeah...I let a few games die about a month ago during a busy week and just haven't picked things up again since.

We talked about this briefly, but it adds a bunch of extra overhead, and we weren't all that sure most people would actually like or use a feature like this in the end. You'd have a very full inbox very quickly.

Don't be jelly, but we already got notifications on our superior iOS devices.
Sorry to hear you Steamers have it so rough.
Writch
Equal parts cur, mud, and gin.
Never shaken, but often stirred.
Serving suggestion: Usually taken with a pinch of salt.
