I kinda suck at this, need some advice
So I've been playing casually for a few months but I'm not very good at the game and I could use some pointers. I tend to play dwarves more than anything else. Any tips or advice for a newbie?
Also, will they be putting the tf2 team on the iOS version?
I see... Well for some reason I keep counting that tf2 players get six moves per turn sometimes. I hope not. That would be broken as hell.
Thats not uncommon for tf2. When they stomp a corpse, they get an extra move. The same happens when they use a respawn token or deploy a scout
I'm sorry but that's some broken bull**** right there
You know what else is BS? That if you stomp on a tribe unit the rest of their units get 50% bonus on their next move. That DE units get 50% lifesteal on all of their attacks. That you cannot end a turn in range of more than one shaolin unit without getting completely destroyed.
Now you can either cry about these things on the forums, or you can deal with them. What will you choose

I play dwarf so apparently I just get ****ed
Dwarf are the strongest team. Their strength isn't in their team passive. Their strength is in having a number of powerful offensive units that take many many ap to kill. Against Tf2 You don't need to save your scrolls because all of their units are quite killable. So be on the look at constantly for situations where using your scroll is strongly beneficial. I.e Is there up to 5 units grouped in a nice way just waiting for a kamikaze grenadier to destroy them? Another thing is that without jarate there are no TF2 units strong enough to take out a +3 dwarf unit with engi bubble in one turn. Your problem is that you just don't really get how to play dwarf

Maybe I should make a thread where I ask for some tips or advice about how to... Hey, wait a second
Then ask for help. Don't just call stuff op. look at the stickied threads and tone down the attitude
If you want help, give specific examples where you tend to struggle. The regulars around here are very willing to help as long as you don't run around saying everything is broken...
Only Shaolin team is completely broken... :)
TF2 is now available on Mac via Steam...so that's another option if you wanted access to that team.
What I've been slowly picking up from my matches with some of the regulars here, is that with the Dwarves, you don't want to be over-aggressive if you don't have the right support units in place.
Woo let's back up here. :) Chill folks!
Alvas, there's a stickied thread up top that's got lots of good info for beginners, and lots of people willing to give teaching games, so don't fret.
Gnerally, you need to first learn to recognize when something is about to kill you, and move out of the wray, or otherwise prevent losing your units "for free". Once you can do that, then you have to learn how to create situations where you can do that to your opponent.
Quick tips for dwarves, look for opportunities to hit multiple units with splash - that's generally always a good idea. Save your scrolls and drills to hit the big units that have lots of buffs on them - generally, it's worth it to spend a drill or scroll to kill a unit that's been equipped with a sword.
If you want, send me a challenge. :) I'm good to give teaching games! You can also check out my blog to see how intermediate level matches play out, although I generally focus more on the Dark Elves.
Thanks for the replies guys! I'll send out some challenges!
Beating TF2 with Dwarves is pretty easy. Steps:
(1) Fully equip and bubble grenadier;
(2) Run around AOEing the crap out of TF2 units;
(3) Laugh like a maniac when you drill kill valuable units;
(4) Laugh like a maniac after timely use of beer.
Ok, ok, its not quite that simple, but there is a lot of truth up there too. The hard thing about Dwarves v. TF2 is knowing when to focus on driving TF2 crazy and when to take out more units. If you dont have a diversified attack team set up, a jar can really ruin your day and your early lead can evaporate pretty quick while TF2 siezes good positioning and you scramble to get a counter going.
I know not everyone wants to pay for TF2, but the best way to understand the other side is just to play it.

Unfortunately, I've been losing to pretty much everyone but I'm slowly getting better

Put this in your sig if you want to get alot of people asking for teaching games. ;)

I see what you did there.
The golden rule of Hero Academy that I tell new opponents in the in-game chat:
"If your opponent is going to be able to undo what you did on your turn, do something else."
Many new people think the way to win at Hero Academy is to destroy your opponent's Crystals or kill your opponent's units. Those are the end game conditions, yes, but the way you to do that to your opponent before he does it to you is to be more efficient than your opponent.
Lots of newbies will walk forward with their Gunner, shoot my dude three times in the face, knocking him out, and then retreat back.
I then heal my guy back to full health in 3AP, and in effect, gain 2AP. Not good.
Before you tap "Submit" think about what your opponent is going to do to respond. If he's going to be able to undo the damage you've done… do something else.
BONUS:
My second golden rule for new players:
You can't save everyone.
The sooner you realize that, the sooner you'll start winning.
Sometimes you need to make your opponent undo what you did to give yourself time to do something bigger.
Sometimes i disobey steve's golden rule when i dont know what my next move will be. The enemy will still be getting moves, but at a much slower rate, so i have a better reaction time, so to speak.
It might be more accurate to say "If your opponent is going to be able to undo what you did with fewer APs, do something else."
Forcing enemies to use an AP or two to heal is fine, as long as you are at least breaking even in terms of APs used and making positive progress developing another part of the board.
It might be more accurate to say "If your opponent is going to be able to undo what you did with fewer APs, do something else."
Agreed.

Theres a stickied thread to sign up for assistance. Id help you out myself but im not exactly a pro lol
About tf2, theres another thread out there that explains it pretty well, but in a nutshell, Valve owns both steam and tf2, so moving tf2 to iOS would remove Valves benefit of players purchasing the team
Congratulations to the winner of 2013's Team of the Year Tournament: The Tribe!!
Feel free to start a match with me. I play casually, but will accept league matches. Since Shaolin is currently persuading me not to choose random like I normally would, I usually choose Dwarves, Dark Elves, or TF2.
