How much coin for Combos?
Hi everyone, I really love OMD2 and also love reading the forums, watching the videos, and reading about the high-score combos, theorycrafting etc...
I'm certainly no expert at the game - my main fun playing is just the building of different kill boxes/trap combinations and watching the orcs go through what I've created and see how well I do, how long I can last, explore the different levels etc... although it's nice to occassionally get into the top ten scores too!
Anyhoo, (sorry for the noob question), I've searched and searched and still can't find any solid info on how much COIN we get for combos. I've found (just today, doh:P) info on the kill streak coin bonus, and could have almost slapped myself that I never noticed it before on my screen :P
But does anyone actually know how much extra coin we get for combos? Like how much for a x5, x6, etc?
I've started trying to get consistently bigger Kill Streaks now to get more coin for more traps, and it would be nice to know how much the combos give.:)
Any info much appreciated and thanks in advance!
Combos add +X0%, where X is the combo amount
That would be my observation, at least with low combo figures and Light Orcs.
Now, there's a game file called game.cfg where we can find this :
// these are for the bonus tracker stuff.
// - a combo bonus value of 0.2 means 20% of "combo bonus max" increased gold for 1 stack, which falls off with each additional stack
// - a combo bonus max of 1.0 means that the overall bonus approaches +100% as the stacks gets infinitely large
ComboBonusValue=0.2
ComboBonusMax=1.0
Not exactly crystal clear, and we don't know if the final code actually makes use of those values. But what it would suggest is diminishing returns and a cap at +100% gold for the higher combo values.
I guess more testing would be required.
With killstreaks, I haven't done solid testing but it seems like (Killstreak amount) squared... until x11 or so. Then it's a little less than squared. Can't figure it out off the top of my head.
Although I'm not 100% positive, I believe the formula holds even past x11. It's just that the final amount is rounded to the lowest multiple of 5 (also off the top of my head).
Hm. Will see if I can hunt through some videos and compare coin payouts from high combos (x10 and up) to what they should be. I pretty much never hit double-digits solo and most of my testing hanged around the x6-x7 area.
One thing to note: base coin values are a little different in Endless. Enemies start out worth +50% (I believe) but it gradually decreases as waves go on.
Seems Wyatan's got it right. There are some diminishing returns. Using this video...

Big cluster of various combos. Heavy orcs are worth 20 base. At x10 that should be 40 coin, but even with some x11 and x12, no value ever got to 40 in that "clump". Very insightful.
I am fairly sure that this diminishing return applies only to combos though; you can safely add Coinforge and Scavenger and those are a guaranteed +75% each.

Far from it, actually, as proven by this video example. 65^2 = 4225, but the player only gets 1838 bonus coin for the kill streak.
Kill streaks from 5 to 10 give bonus coin equal to the squared value of the kill streak size. After that, the rate of increase decreases until it approaches a fairly linear function. For kills streaks in the range of 30--65, the following function estimates the coin value with a maximum error of +/- 2:
y(n) = 33.93*n - 366.04
The estimate will probably be a good one for higher kill streaks than 65 as well, but rightaway I didn't find any coin values for kill streaks above 65.
Thank you for the in depth replies. :)

I don't have to do any work here it's already done. /salute
fact is: for x3 combo you will get 35% coin bonus

To quote a passage from the my guide:
Enemy coin value when killed can be increased by use of Combos, the Coinforge, and the Scavenger Trinket's active ability. Let's consider a Light Orc Warrior as an example, whose base coin value is 10.
If we get a Combo x3 (+30%) on the LOW, he instead gives (10*1.3) = 13 coin.
If we use Coinforge level 0 (+50%), he gives (10*1.5) = 15 coin.
If we use both, he gives (10*1.8) = 18 coin.
Essentially, all modifiers to coin value are additive, not multiplicative. For the curious, best coin value (Scavenger Trinket upgraded and Coinforge level 3) earns a 150% bonus (or multiply coin value by 2.5), ignoring combos.
To add:
-Combos add +X0%, where X is the combo amount
-Scavenger Trinket active effect adds 75% (with Special).
-Coinforge at level 3 adds 75%
If there are multiple modifiers, add them together.
With killstreaks, I haven't done solid testing but it seems like (Killstreak amount) squared... until x11 or so. Then it's a little less than squared. Can't figure it out off the top of my head.
