High Score *SMACK TALK*
Loki just killed the baths. Epic stuff. Vvt76 and Loki have been killing lately. Great gorge without barricades was sick. Epic stuff guys.
#1 on Great Gorge Nightmare, no barricades: 1,569,737. I had to open my entire box of tricks for that one.
Thanks Ken, but have you looked at the warmage leaderboards lately? #1 on the first 14 maps and over 4M on the Library. I'd say you're the one who is murdering lately!
You have to understand VvT76, Kenny is congratualting us on our achievments in the mere mortal bracket..... :)
I guess you're right, Loki. I used to be happy with 10% of Kenny's current Library score. I'd like to see Kenny beat hugh_rist's score on Killing Fields. And judging by the steam roll of #1's, I'd say we're pretty close to actually seeing that.
My 6 million on Killing Fields can easily be beaten because I was only using x9 combos on it. With x10s you can easily get over 10 million.
Depending on the map barricade blocking is useless and on others it's unbeatable.
What levels do you think it's useless on? I'm pretty sure barricade blocking will beat any other strategy on every level.
Example 1:Set up the Tower Like you have it in the pic and see what happens.
The orcs will attack the barricades after a minute or so.
Not all of your barricades work for the whole time,
There are more also... I would have to go back and look. Haven't messed with it in some time.
And Yes.... There are alternatives to barricade blocking and better designed killboxes.
Great job odgraon,
Killing fields was one of myfavorite maps when i was chasing HHH to try to beat his score. I decided i was tired of seeing Hugh up there so:

I completely forgot about the delayed sappers in round 12 and they blew up one barricade. Lost 13 rift points but was able to through some barricades back up :) nearly craped my pants after spending all that time. lol
Nice job, Loki.
I still want to see someone break 15 million on The Squeeze. It shouldn't be too hard. I think that's the level with the most possible points.

Well Loki. This is the highest score ever produced using legit in-game features. I guess that means you won game. :) Awesome job!!!
I think it's safe to say that nothing is going to beat barricade blocking. Tweaks can be made to the strategy, but overall it can't be beaten on any map (not that I know of, anyway.)
Well that's the only map i'm going to choose to barricade on. I like playing the game a lot more non-barricading. One thing that it did teach me was some small nuansces about my kill box when kill orc, after ,orc, after orc..... :)

Actually barricade blocking was discovered and decoded long ago. It was reported to Robot and kept secret. It Then became useless when the "x12/4x2/weapon switch" was put into action.
The general technique of putting Orcs into limbo and grinding them is the most powerful strategy for high scoring. There are other ways to put units into limbo besides barricade blocking. I tested some other methods on The Corner and The Arena. These high scores were achieved without baricade blocking.
I do agree in general though.... When I discovered the BB, Hold and Grind ..... I knew it would be hard to beat.
There are still a few tricks out there that are unpublished, but we are near the end of the road.
Maybe it's time to write "The history and evolution of OMD strategy"
Kenny

I'd get my own chapter.
Great job, odragon!
My Barricade Blocking post got deleted for some reason, but I worked out the strategy for The Squeeze. 15 million is definitely possible. I figured out how to get consistent x10's on orcs/hobgoblins and x8's on kobolds.
(30 orcs wave 1 * 12,800) + (598 remaining orcs * 25,600) + (93 kobolds * 6,400) + (18 shamans * 25,600) = 16,748,800
I updated the barricade locations also: top, bottom
I'm looking into what happened to it. You were updating pics on it recently right? I wonder if the spam software caught it and filtered it. I can't see it either and I usually can see them even if they are unpublished. I'll get back with you. Thats a lot of hard work missing.
Yeah, I was trying to add the new image for The Squeeze. I was being asked to solve a captcha on that post all the time but not others. I think it's because of that formatting bug I mentioned. It caused me to resave my posts about 5 times before that Normal (DIV) section at the top would disappear. There's another copy of it on the Steam forum here, though.
Ok, I passed on the info. I will get you taken care of sir... Once they get back with me. ;)
#1 on Triple Down warmage, 331,079 points and well within par time. This time I had a 9x, 11x and finished off with a 13x. One ogre got away, sneaky sob.
:)
14,339,392 - Killing Fields
x10's on orcs and kobolds. Video of x10 here. I sacrificed some points by ditching the lightning ring to shorten the playing time.
Nice job, Loki.

Wouldn't that be hard climb, since you can get an 11x on the orcs and 2 12x using the stage archer and barrel?
Maybe, if there are better locations for the barricades. The ones I found get the stage archers killed, or they just shoot the orcs near the barricades. I think using the stage archers for x11's on The Stream might work, though.
Now that I know how to get x10's on kobolds, I think Great Gorge might have the highest maximum score. I'll figure it out later.
Edit: Nope. Great Gorge is only around 12-13M. The Squeeze has the highest maximum limit, I think, at 16-18M depending on kobold combos.

The boxes would have to be rebuilt on both levels. The absence of any real space for ceiling traps on the stream and the open area poses many problems..... but the stream is your best bet.
Hard Climb barricades will need to be repositioned much closer to the gates ….if it's even possible. The stairs pose a problem with pathing. Areas where wall traps can be used are not useful for the ceiling traps and vise versa on hard climb.
The only two people with enough current knowledge about path blocking that could probably get it moved closer to the gate on Hardclimb is Hugh_rist. and Rogotin. It's been to long since I've played with the path blocking.
If they can get the pathing worked out .. I can probably get the box built. Just depends where they block it.
Deleted. oops
Such a boring way to play the game though. As soon as I figured out you could do this I just kinda did the maths then never bothered. Its not so much a 'can you do it' as much as a 'how close to %100 can you get'.
Also there's more to the path blocking. Its only about half way there at the moment with Hugh Rists style. There are a few major factors he's still missing which would make the struggle far easier to handle. But I'm interested in the natural flow of the figuring out and I don't intend to give away how anythings done. I'd join the carnage but truth is - I don't have the patience.

yes there are still some unknowns :).......
