Hero Academy Damage Calculator - Now ...
It would be really awesome if you could implement a way to calculate if a unit will be killed by tribe's spike armor :)
i thought units could never be killed by spiked armor?
This is very well made! A suggestion, make a calculator for crystal damage. Just thought I'd throw it out there!
Cool calculator. I've been working on adding similar functionality to Academy Professor, and there are quite a few weird edge cases lurking around. It's handy though!
Ok! Latest updates (version b0.6) fixing the issues which have been brought up (2.5 and 7.5 rounding down instead of up, and Wraith HP). I've also fixed the SL combo damage according to Hamlet's latest update, and added Taoist buff removal mechanics.

I'm certainly working on it, but I'm trying my best not to clutter up the interface too much. There are way too many checkboxes as it is....

No kidding. You should have yourself a look at the spaghetti that's hiding behind the javascript.... >.> UGLY
So no one has ever come across a situation where the game rounds x2.5 or x7.5 damage up? That is good to know.
Tabby that Annihilator damage makes sense. Scrolled damage would be x3 prior to any rounding since it is 1 single hit. I would say it would have been even more surprising if it rounded first then multiplied.

Oh wow. Derp >.<
Great tool. I've been using it lately. I've got a situation in game which I don't think is available via the calculator. I'm trying to determine the options for enemy dark elf units versus my Shaolin's captured wraith currently at L1. It is equipped with a dragon scale and that doesn't appear as one of the options in the calculator. You've got soul stone, shining helm, dwarven brew, mana vial, bubble, monk hp debuff but no dragon scale option.
*edit* one can use the appropriate resist tile checkbox on the attacker side to simulate the same stats, consider it a workaround for now but still doesn't cover the defender HP side of things as there is no HP affecting tile (hey now that would be a new update to the game HP affecting tiles like regen tiles)
This may be a lot of extra work but you may want to consider adding options for shaolin captured units that get equpment they don't normally have. I've had fully decked out +3 shamans, axe throwers, warriors, and chieftans for example and they would need check boxes for dragon scale, and shining helms which they don't normally get - I'm still looking out for that witch to complete my set but they tend to stay away from the shaolin defensive formations. My favorite so far has been making +3 captured Heavy that single handedly finished off his former camrades on the battlefield after all the Shaolin team had fallen. That is a beast on the board with 1440 HP, 20% resists, and 150 base dmg
On second thought it may not be too much trouble, how about just add in all the optional equipment and buffs / debuffs in the defender selection area and leave it up to the user to be smart about picking their options?
Lastly love the blog. It has been quite entertaining and informative for my HA outside the game experience.
Glad you like it!
ive been thinking of adding the opposing team's units to an SL team, so that you could say combo and then have an annihilator attack as a capper, but the problem is clutter. The SL list gets real unwieldy real fast.
Minor bug: If you change the defenders max HP, the action squares show its HP as its current HP *slash* its unmodified max HP. Has no affect on the calculations, just an aesthetic hiccup.

How about instead of the way it is now where you choose the attacking team once and can only calculate damage from those units, you select the team within each AP. Then if youre defending against shaolin, you can compute damage from any stolen units.
Or even better: If the attacker is shaolin, the APs add each unit from the defending team onto its list.
Alright you guyse, I fixed the thing. =)

Hey Nat, the Dwarven pulverizer does 630 damage on your calculator, instead of 600.
You also need a grenadier melee attack.
The pulverizer sounds like you have a pally buff left on it. =p Yeah, I know, it shouldn't affect these things, but coding is harrrddd.
I'll add the grenadier melee attack - good catch!

C'mon, Tabby -- you know I didn't mean it like that! Your app is awesome. I just usually ENJOY working out the math myself. :)
This is my go-to calculator especially when things get messy :-)
Btw I'm testing the calculator w/ Annihilator as Attacker (scrolled) and a Nec w/ Shining Helm as Defender. I noticed the Magic Resist doesn't register in the calculations?
I'll get off your lawn. =(
Just great. Now everytime I envision Trip I'll see him as Clint Eastwood on his front patio couching a shotgun in one arm and clutching a PBR in his free hand.
(BTW - Sweet ride, Trip!)

Yeah, I think I already brought that reference down upon myself in a classic thread from yesteryear... (See posts #2 and #9) Whatever happened to good old "pressdelight"?

Ah, okay.... 'splains gobs. Now I wonder where the pluck I was at the time? I usually don't miss out on low-hanging fruit like that. I think that was back when the firewall at work kept me from day-time excursions into the frothing fray of the forum.
But I dearly cherish the whole "layered lawns" motif braiding it's way through that thread. How ever-so apropos for all strata of logic in this scatalogical landfill!

I only have a TI-89 Plus >.<
It appears that your calculator isn't adding any magical resists to the Wraith, even with the shining helm checked.
Hm? It seems to be working fine for me! Can you check what combination of attack and wraith and buffs/debuffs you're using? The only thing I can think of is that you're not using a magical attack. :p
Since I'm here, I've updated the calculator to take into account the new patch. Look out for version 1.4.2.1! You may have to reload the website and/or clear your cache!
It's not working for me using Safari on the iPad but it's working in another browser I barely use. So I guess I just have an old version and need to clear the cache.
Is there a way to change the need for this? It's very annoying having to do it on iOS, as you have to clear all cookies and data, so all your login info for other websites is erased.

Ok, I've confirmed Gribb's numbers with my tests as well.
A sworded annihilator with pally buff (300 * 1.5 * 1.05) does 472.5 damage, but the game rounds it down to 470.
Even odder, if the annihilator is scrolled he does (472.5 * 3) 1,417.5 damage, which the game rounds down to 1,415 damage. Which is not the same as 470 * 3 = 1,410! I'd better check my calculator to see if this is accurately reflected as well.
Similarly, a L0 sworded wraith (250 * 1.5) does 375 damage, when he attacks a wizard with 10% magic resist, he does 337.5 damage, which the game rounds down to 335.
If that wraith is scrolled and attacks a wizard with helm on a magic defense tile (50%) resist, he does 560 damage, rounded down from 562.5.
So it seems the game is at least consistent about this. I wonder why it rounds down instead of up, as I would have expected....
Mew? =^^=
