Game stutters black and crashes
I've been playing this game for a few days and since I unlocked the Wind Bracelet, the game will stutter and crash when I use it to throw orcs into the acid. I've tried all variations of video settings and I can't figure out how to fix this. If anyone has any suggestions that would awesome, thank you.
I have exactly the same issue, my game stutters black and crashes after some time, (but not only when using windbracelet), I do get the video driver failure error.

Can you other guys post your system specs to see if we can narrow down the problem? We need some more data on this one.
I have posted most of it in my previous post but I use steam and I have Windows 7 64bit
EDIT: I have already tried vertifying the files and I have already reinstalled it (more then once)
I already posted in this thread: http://www.robotentertainment.com/forum/topic/Video-Crash-4th-level-Baths
It seems as though we have similar problems. In the other thread, I stated that the game runs fine now with the latest nVidia drivers version 285.62, but only on my single GPU. When I run SLI, I still get the video driver failure.
Truskar, have you updated to the latest driver? And do you have 1 video card or a SLI set up?
running on the 285.62 driver as wel, haven't tried going single GPU, I have been using SLI. I'll try single GPU.
Hey Guys,
I'm having the same issue on Nvidia 285.62 drivers with two 8800 GT cards in SLI. When specific things occur in the game, the screen goes black and the game crashes. About 1 out of 5 times that the screen goes black, the game comes back after about 5 seconds.
Some of the things that cause the screen to go black:
- Placing a lighting trap on the ceiling near a wall
- Attacking Gnolls and Shamans with melee weapons
- Attacking trolls with melee weapons or the fire bracer
I haven't tried running the game without SLI yet but it does look like the problem might be with SLI since all of us seem to be using it.
System Specs:
Windows 7 x64 Service Pack 1
Nvidia 285.62 Video Driver
Orcs Must Die on Steam
Intel Q6600 @ stock speed
2x EVGA 8800 GT Super Clocked Edition
4 GB DDR2 RAM
I'll try running the game without SLI and report back.
So I just spent about 4 hours playing with SLI turned off and the game stopped crashing when before it would crash about every 30 minutes or so. So it looks like SLI is indeed causing these issues.
I hope Robot Entertainment can get the bug resolved soon.
Also, if an employee could respond to let us know that you guys know about the issue, it would be much appreciated.
We have been seeing some problems with SLI set ups and we're still investigating. If you're encountering problems, we recommend turning off SLI for the moment.
Thanks for the reply.
It's good to know that you guys are working on it.
I just bought the game and both DLCs only to find that I too have the video driver crash as well. :( please fix this!
I have a I7, 6gigs and a 295gtx with latest nvidia driver NON SLI. I log in pick my spells and start the wave then it flickers black and freezes and or crashes. Only had the game for a day :(
I wonder if it might have something to do with the 295GTX, I have that card too. :\
I wonder if I turned off multi-GPU mode in the NVidia settings, if it would work.
Try turning off multi-gpu mode and see if that helps.
While it isn't really a solution to the problem, it seems to work.
I do not have to do this for any other game that I own, and I own over 150 PC titles old and new
I'm also having this issue, but I don't have an SLI setup. so I have no option to disable :S
What are your system specs?
I had this problem until i turned sli off and havnt had it since a although it is a little annoying to turn it off and on
Also having this issue. Will test disabling multi-gpu. I've found that creating/editing a user.cfg file and limiting fps helps the issue but does not eliminate it. This process is outlined in the following thread, currently FAQ#11 http://www.robotentertainment.com/OMDSteamTechFAQ
Intel i7 920
9GB RAM
Single 295GTX, 285.62 display driver
Win7x64
OMD on Steam. Please correct issue. I can't play past the first couple levels and would like to.
Thanks!
Edit: I disabled multi-gpu and the game has not crashed yet. As with prior posts, this is the only game behaving this way.
Thanks for the updated info about the multi GPU.
