Since the past 3 weeks I can't play a game with (steam username) 'wrathje'. Before that, everything was okay and no issues. But now I can play 5 minutes with him until the game crashes with an error: 'user disconnected'.

I play OMD!2 on his lowest settings
I have internet from KPN with a download speed of 1,2MB/s. I have UPnP enabled. I live in Breda, The Netherlands
My buddy, wrathje, lives in Overijssel, The Netherlands.
It doesn't matter if he's hosting or I am, we both disconnect.
I can easily play with other people, (for example: Juicebags).

No we both dont. We just randomly disconnect
When you say that you disconnect, what's happening exactly? Are you getting a "reconnecting" pop-up box? does it drop straight to the menu or out of the game?

First, we play smoothly for around 30 seconds. Then, a pop-up appears with something like 'lost connection -- please wait'. Eventually after some seconds the game resumes. But after like 4 times of getting the pop-up, it takes a little longer and we get back into the campaign menu
How many of the colored connection dots do you see under your avatars at the top of the screen? That kind of problem would stem from problems with your internet connectivity.
The amount of dots under my avatar (as host) is full. The amount under his avatar is 1
I've noticed that in a lot of videos, where 1 is green and 2 is red.
Even when I host, on my screen I will be green and other is red, but when I looked on the other screen, I was red and other was green.
My buddy's computer specs:
i5-2500 CPU, 8gb mem, 2x AMD Radeon 6850 x-fire setup, 100Mbit glassfiber internet connection, Windows 7
