Combo.. trouble?
In an overall confusing system, I tried this: http://i.imgur.com/dhV8h.jpg
And these were my results:
A mountain troll came in.
It was webbed, hit by the floor spikes, hit by my maze, stunned, hit by the stoning lance or whatever is the name of the weapon of my sorceress companion, hit by archers with fire and dwarf bombs.
Yielded combo = 0
Can someone yield light on my utter confusion?
Mountain Trolls are hard to kill fast enough for combo points to "stick", indeed.
Another possible explanation : if a goblin shaman was around, that troll may have been a resurrected troll. Resurrected monsters don't yield combos.
Oh. I was already thinking not a single soul would answer me.
Generally speaking, each individual combo effect only counts for a couple seconds. It's possible that, when it died, it was not being affected by spikes, webs were burned off, and dwarf bombs' combo effect wore off. Between just Dwarven Hammer, Stone Staff (just primary attack?), and Archers, it's possible that the Mountain Troll just didn't have enough simultaneous effects active. Minimum combo points necessary to actually get a "combo" popup is 3. Could have only had 2.
Blast, I swear he received all attacks and died in less than a eight seconds span approximately.
I guess the "Only few seconds lasting combo effect" is for competitivity, but it's far from giving a warm welcome to newcomers.. too much a hast for my liking, I'm more of a slow paced and foreshadowing guy.

Very well, I will take the word on both of you both.
And that of that resurrected trolls don't yield combos.. I would give it a possibility of 7.5 over ten-points-based-hipothetical-model that in my last game immediately after which I write this down, I saw one do so.
2.5 Still leave much room for possibilities of me not having seen a third troll behind and so having understood the situation wrong.
Alright, question answered then, thank you both.
