Challenge Ideas Only
Yo!
We want to start adding some of the challenges that you guys and gals come up with.
Guidelines:
-Has to be OMD2 levels only. Cant be from a DLC pack. Cant be classics.
-Same with loadouts and upgrades. Cant be from DLC packs.
-Has to be able to beat (Warmage Only). They are not required to be 5 skulled.
-List your upgrades or lack of.
-Good to think of this as ways to use traps, weapons and upgrades that people dont use alot.
-If you come up with something really challenging add the solution or "how to beat it" to your forum post so we can test it out. If we can't beat it it has no chance of being used.
-Would be great if any of you that put challenges in the other thread would copy and paste them in here so I can find them easily. ***Whoa! Jay-Rome is one lazy beeatch.***

Can you have a challenge to reach a certain wave on endless and on an endless only map?
Something with Twisted Halls all weapons and traps allowed but with no upgrades. Sorta thinking like a Factory Zero type of mind set if anyone gets the reference.
Title: Between a rock and an ash cart
Map: Precipice
Character: Sorceress
Loadout:
- Wand lvl 2 + extra damage to charmed (tune if too difficult, maybe add extra damage to charmed)
- Barricades lvl 3 + healing (maybe tune depending on money)
- Autoballista lvl 3 + stun
- Bear trap lvl 0 + set on fire
- Spring trap lvl 3 (maybe tune depending on money) + reset faster
- Paladins lvl 2 (tune if too difficult) + stun
I'll try this soon-ish to see if it's not too hard.
edit: bear trap upgrade to set on fire
edit2: tried it. Very doable. Tuned the upgrades a bit
Okay, assuming you can do endless
Title: A shove in the right direction
Map: Close Cliffs
Character: Sorceress
Loadout:
Fully upgraded wand, with extra damage against charmed enemies
Fully upgraded wind belt with heal
Fully upgraded floor schorchers, with longer damage time
Fully upgraded spring trap with throwing heavier enemies
Fully upgraded push trap with longer range
Fully upgraded steam trap with chill
Beat wave 15
If this is seen as too easy (I've completed it realitvely pain free, but lost a few rift points) you could make remove any or all Wand and Floor Scorcher upgrades.
(edit) I died on wave 15 with two elementals getting through sealing my fate, but it's definitely possible to win this with completely unupgraded wand and floor scorchers, especially for players who are actually good at this game.
Create skill-, trinket- and trap-selections themed on famous monster/enemy/hero-archtypes. Like vampires, mudmen, ninjas, paladins and so on.
As an example: A typical vampire-challenge might consist of Vampiric Gauntlets, Blade Staff, the Mana Rage Trinket, Spore Mushrooms and some tricky trap like the Floor Portal or the Void Wall.

- Blunderbuss, lvl 2 + bleed
- Mana rage trinket with more mana only
- Scavenger trinket fully upgraded
- Alchemist satchel lvl 3 + slows
- Coinforge lvl 3 + persist
- Boulder chute lvl 3 with drop coins
- Ceiling pounder lvl 1 to be tuned + drop coins
- Decoy lvl 3 + revive
- Archers lvl 1
edit: very hard. kobolts a problem. Couldn't do it without archers.
TItle: It's not rocket science
Map: Corridors
Character: Warmage with double jump
Loadout:
- Blunderbuss, lvl 3, knocks back heavies
- Trap reset trinket fully upgraded
- Push trap, lvl 3, push further
- Steam vent, lvl 0
- Spring trap, lvl 2, flips heavies
- Haymaker, lvl 0, throws with more force
- Boom barrel dispencer, lvl 3
- Schorcher, lvl 3, fires an arc
- Barricades, lvl 0
edit: very difficult (too expensive to have 3 killboxes) without barricades. Lowered steam vent and spring trap level to balance money

The challenge is in not getting hit, managing money, and staying alert without a reliable weapon.

This is pretty difficult map with this loadout near the end. You'll need to utilize the trinket carefully to take out the Gnoll swarms. Guardian limit adds another layer of difficulty...do you take high damage ballista or an archer? I failed on my first try on Round 12 but it's completely doable.
The Tank is AFK again ...

-Boom Barrel level 2, Unique 1 (cost reduced to 150)
-Decoy level 2
Now you could just plant a Decoy at the bridge and Wind Belt a lot of enemies off the edge... but that's only going to take your score so far :)
Remember that enemy attacks detonate Boom Barrels, not just throwing it into them with Wind Belt.
I think the Bear Trap might be a bit superfluous, as I didn't actually use it, but it fits with the theme.

I just wanted to say thanks to you guys and gals. Some of these will work nicely. Actually, a few are close to challenges that we have in the queue but you guys have not seen yet.
We will (for sure) pull from all of these ideas to get the last few that we need.

- Mana well (lvl 3, recharge quicker)
Might be a bit tough. I'll give it a shot over the week-end.
edit: I really like this one. Easy to finish. Very hard to five skull. You really need to use the mana wells and the rift defender trinket.
How about giving us access to ALL the traps and weapons, but send huge waves of Orcs?
Because that's what nightmare and endless is in a way. I know you've 5-skulled all the maps, and would like a SUPER HELLISH FREAKIN' WORSE NIGHTMARE EVER mode, but I don't think they'll plan to do that at any point.
More importantly, weekly challenges waves are the same as in warmage difficulty... I don't think the game supports modifying waves easily.

The problem with Endless is that there is no real victory. It just goes on forever like a sandbox mode. It's kinda like playing the sims -- no real goal whatsoever.
"Endless" would have been better if it was similar to Horde Mode in Gears of War -- you "win" if you reach 50 waves... (and can continue to go on past it).
Actually, in OMD2, "you win" when you reach wave 40, but you can continue.

please allow us to have access to past challenges
why not have challenges section
when one clicks on it once sees the current challenge and past challenges
optionally when one selects a challenge they are presented with information about that challenge, for example present stats
it would also be nice if it indicated which challenges the player had completed
also, would be nice if you give us a way to create and submit challenges, sort of steam workshop, but for challenges. would basically require wave and spellbook editor. this way members could test submitted challenges and vote for which ones would be promoted to official ranked weekly challenges.

That is it. It is possible, though hitting that par time is insanely hard.

i found war mage to be rather eaisy but the draw back is you can only throw so many flasks, before running out of mana so accuracy is key

Nice little puzzle for those who don't know it (posted twice already AFAIK), oddly addictive trying to 5-skull it and get "Untouchable" once you've figured it out.
