Bamboo doesn't block movement?! ...
I have rarely had a chance to actually use bamboo. (Is the thing where it comes out last definitely a bug, or possibly by design?)
I finally tried to use it as I've seen advised here--as a way to buy time to gather up forces behind it to deliver combos.
My opponent did a chain attack on the bamboo, which I didn't know you could do, but fair enough (though it seems to negate the use of bamboo against certain opponents).
Then my opponent simply walked right through the bamboo to stomp my guys.
You can just walk right through it?! What is it even for?!
(And does this mean I can walk through opponents? If so, I didn't know that. Seems odd.)
I haven't seen bamboo in so long that I have almost forgotten how to use them. Coming last in the deck, they may be useful as grave markers for fallen Shaolin units.
And yes, you can walk through your opponents. And crystals too, for that matter. Only ranged attacks can't pass through your opponents.
Until the bug fix, the uses are pretty much limited to fingernails and pandas.
Movement is not restricted by line of sight ever. If an unoccupied tile is in movement range, you can move there. It will block attacks, however. Attacks are effected by line of sight through opponents, but not anything friendly.
as for the mechanic of hitting ur own bamboo, has anyone ever placed bamboo on a tile and was like "oh i'm glad i can waste ap to attack and remove it" ever? I would highly doubt that this would ever happen or need to happen.
If its not to hard to change i highly vote they at least make it so adjacent friendly bamboo isn't chained to from windblades targeting enemy units

Yes, an opponent of mine from a few months ago when SL were released played an SL mirror match with me and limited his own movement due to the bamboo he used for stomping getting in his way.

Actually, before they kept sinking in the deck till the end game, I have on more than a few occasions used it for ricochet to hit enemy puppets who thought they were out of range. That was never to much damage effect and KO wasn't the intent. It was more like a barking dog to warn them off and have them step back. They were usually more concerned for the incremental damage to their unit than my bamboo.
Now I rarely ever used my own bamboo's rebound to KO a unit, but I have use theirs in combos.
I kind of like the mechanic - it's one of the few remaining surprises left in the game - the "I keep forgetting about that" factors used to stun random casuals.

Yes, it's a confirmed bug that the bamboo fall through the deck. Once that's fixed you'll find them more useful. Mainly a threat to occupy tiles, block line of sight attacks and most importantly remote stomp.
It is a little counter-intuitive that your own units hurt it (windblade!), but that makes some sense when you realize you may need to remove it to accomplish something else later in the game.
