Anyone Playing RAD Soldiers?
Asych tactical combat (think X-Com type squad).
Lacks a lot of polish (I dont even know if you can chat with your opponents) and the IAP isnt as elegant as HA...costlier, but you can *slowly* earn it.
I am 1-0 so far and looking for other noobs to play!
Before I get exited and go check it out: What is the rating?
Um, maybe 4 out of 5 stars? I dunno, its free and easy to get into for a quick peek, there are some easy single player matches to get started. So yeah, form your own rating!

Whereas HA sounds a tad "safer":

Edit: downloaded, BTW anyone know how to erase "shadow copies" of apps? It's when you have an app downloaded and the same app at 100% intallation, but the latter does nothing

I find it usually clears up after restarting the device.
Pay to win is actually one thing they got right. The "Squad Size" setting takes into account character choice and weapons. Better characters/weapons cost more squad points.
You get 3 characters for free, and the four seems like it will be along in ... a few hours of play. Yeah, stuff is quite expensive in in game currency, and the IAP is quite expensive in real currency.
Still, for me, the lack of polish is a bigger deal. For example, I'm not sure you can chat in matches, and I dont know that you can check the stats on your enemies weapons once in a match.

Ok, dokey, I'll do that in the next 15 or so. I have all standard equipments, with my free character pick as the medic, equipped with puny handgun. She does an AOE heal of not sure what range at the end of every turn, or can heal one character for more.
It seems you need to be "friends" before you can challenge someone specific. I'm ArtNJ on there, if anyone wants to send me a friend request and then a game.

She heals for 40, AOE at range 3 for 20... I'm a bit of an information junkie. :)

I have gone pretty deep into it, and ATM its my favorite game. Once you have a good selection of troops and weapons there is a great deal of variety in your matches.
I am bigtroy68, and I accept all invites when I have free slots in my queue.
I did spend real money, but only because I am impatient and got 50.00 worth of iTunes gift cards for Xmas. I have purchasd 8 of my 16 soldiers through regular in game currency thanks to some marathon sessions over the holiday weekend. But I also caved and dropped almost my entire 50.00 gift card stash on the other 8 soldiers.
As for Play to Win, suprisingly I find that the higher cost weapons are often the least effective thanks to the very good job that the developers did on balancing the game. Very impressed with that, the high end weapons cost not only more points to field, but more action points to use and are, thus, more difficul to use effectivly. They are amazing once you get good at creating the right circumstance for them, but they are never as versatile as the lower cost weapons.
Problems with the game to me are the lack of in game chat, a rare bug that makes it impossible to finish a match (only happened once but that match is now locked in my queue) and the fact that they should have given out more free soldiers early so new players have a chance to get to know the game, and the stuipid beg messagage every three of four matches remindind you that you can buy outfits.
The gameplay, however, is exactly what I have been waiting for since I bought my iPad first gen. XCom style squad shooter with modern production values.
I really hope the game is a huge sucess for no other reason than to see more simillar games in the future.
