Anybody else starting to get bored?
I've been playing this game since it first came out. I'm in the top 1,000 in wins, yada yada yada. I stopped playing for a couple months a while back (until TF2 came out), and it looks like I will be doing that again. I was wondering if anybody else felt the same way. I have so many games on my iPhone that I don't play because I have been playing HA. Plus, I'm just starting to not even have fun anymore. Maybe I've played so much now that I know exactly what is going to happen every game. I know what my opponents strategies are going to be before they even start the game, which is just not fun. There's no surprise anymore. That's actually why it's fun playing against randoms. They don't know what they are doing so their strategies are always weird, and I can mess around with them and do a stupid strategy which is still going to work because they're terrible.
Maybe it's this new Shaolin team. Just played a game against Dwarves which literally is impossible to win with Shaolin. Seriously, what is Robot thinking with the Dwarves team? Since they wouldn't dare to respond to this question, does anybody have any idea what their thought process is when giving one team the best offense and defense? It really doesn't make sense to me. Playing as Dwarves and TF2 is fun but far too easy, Council is boring because they've been around the longest with little/no change, and DE and Shaolin are underpowered which make them a struggle. Struggling isn't fun. I'm starting to play Outwitters over HA. Say what you want about the similarities in their teams, but hey at least they're balanced. And the games are always different. They also just implemented a very good idea which gives the person going 2nd a couple extra AP in the first round to compensate for them going second. Very smart idea.
This is why I don't want anymore teams. It is literally impossible to keep all these teams balanced against each other when they are so different. And plus, I'm starting to feel like Robot is selling themselves out a little. They charged me a dollar for challenges that I beat in about an hour, they charge 5 bucks in order to get the TF2 team (and they purposely made them overpowered so people will spend the money).
I don't know. Guess I'm just rambling because I'm dissappointed in the direction this game has headed. I feel like they made Shaolin just to be different, without realizing that the team doesn't actually work with the HA playstyle, that Shaolin vs. Shaolin is boring beyond words, etc. etc.
"Literally impossible"? I do not think this means what you think it means. ;)
But as for your main point, it sounds like it might be time to take a break. There aren't too many games that can withstand constant play without losing some fun in the familiarity. Even the best ones get stale from time to time -- just put it aside for awhile and try some of those other games. By the time you feel like picking up HA again, odds are good that RE's next patch will have been released, hopefully balancing things out a bit.
And, FWIW, even Outwitters is currently embroiled in a significant game mechanics controversy....
Every game gets boring eventually. Personally I'd leave it and come back in a few months, as you have already done. Either that or you could play against more experience players more often, then I'm guessing you'd stop finding Dwarves and TF2 'far too easy'. Personally I think you've massively over-emphasised the imbalances between the teams. There is definitely a hierarchy that should be addressed with patches but it's hardly gamebreaking (and it's definitely not 'literally' impossible to win as Shaolin against dwarves, that's just silly). Others may disagree, but beyond a few small changes that have been talked about many times now, I don't see how anyone can reasonably expect the teams can be more balanced than they already are. As for Robot selling themselves out, they have lives to live and families to feed, I don't think a 1$ fee for some challenges is that unreasonable. The majority of players less experienced than yourself would probably take much longer to compelte them.
I would agree with trip and mrwho. I am in a similar position as you (playing since day 1) and for me playing against friends (that i convinced to download the game) and playing tournaments against worthy competitors keeps me interested. The balance is not perfect but any team can be beaten by any other team in any given game. Tf2 and dwarves CAN SEEM to be very over powered, but if you can hit their crystals early and hard all the sudden they can't be so offensive any more
but if you are truly bored with the game then the best thing is to stop playing lol
"Literally impossible"? I do not think this means what you think it means. ;)
Yeah, I think he meant inconceiveable.
But that finally allowed me to realize what's wrong with the Shaolin.... (wait for it)
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders - The most famous of which is "never get involved in a land war in Asia."
But only slightly less well-known is this: "Never go against a Shaolin when death is on the line"! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha...

Aaaaand the last Poisoner gets Infernoed. GG.

That's only because you spent the last few years building up an immunity to Inferno powder.

No more Princess Bride references. I mean it.
Q: Anybody else starting to get bored?
A: Nope, Writch is in the house :P

If this refers to my game with Chris, "literally impossible" might refer to my OPness. Although the game was more or less equal...I made a very debateable trade of a grenadier + shield + I think a beer + time for a healer, and the game was more or less in its infancy other than that.
Bored with the game? Nope. I don't imagine that happening until I run out of ways to get better.
Disappointed with Shaolin? Yep. Until someone discovers an interesting offensive strategy for them, it seems my feeling for them could be described as disappointed lack of interest. Is that boredom?
no Art it actually wasn't our game haha i actually liked my trade in that situation and i had 2 more healers on deck waiting to come out...it was a couple other games that really got me mad about Dwarves...also there's nothing wrong with "literally impossible" there literally, or "actually" (so no exagerration) and theres impossible, or "not possible"...it's literally impossible lmao...i think u guys need english lessons where are u from?
unless u are a random and don't have any clue how to use Dwarves...if anybody wants i will be Dwarves and u can be Shaolin and ill show u that it's "literally impossible" for me not to win :p
Yeah, i'm right with you OP.
game was fun when shaolin and new challenges came out, but it's all the same stuff.
shaolin is weak as all heck, and the game is too matchup dependant. if you are shaolin against anyone who knows what they are doing you will win -- unless you're against another shaolin, in which case neither of you will ever win
i like the dark elves, i'm top 55 with them, but i NEVER beat a good dwarf player EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER no matter how carefully i play. it's impossible to win with Elves against dwarves unless the dwarf gets all 3 paladins at the very end of the deck- which is a cheap win.
an unupgraded, scrolled imp CANNOT KO an unupgraded paladin in one hit- that's just absurd. that's just imbalance. that's just pure imbalance and that's all I can say about that.
couldn't agree more
Hey Chris, I challenge you to a game. you can be dwarves and I'll be shaolin.
special rules - you CAN ONLY ATTACK with your healing units. So, you can only attack with paladins, i can only attack with mine
NO SPELLS AT ALL. I won't use my useless fire dragon egg spell or whatever it is if i get shaolin and you can't use drills.
also, i feel like resurrection should be fair game. so if i am able to kill one of your paladins (don't worry, i won't be able to) i should be allowed to res it with my superunit.
you are allowed to use the rest of your units as you see fit (you can use engineers to bubble your paladins, and you can stack your paladins with items to make them even more IMBALANCED)
finally, crystal kills are allowed.
what do you say?
also there's nothing wrong with "literally impossible" there literally, or "actually" (so no exagerration) and theres impossible, or "not possible"...it's literally impossible lmao...i think u guys need english lessons where are u from?
Sorry, this is stiil false. As in "based on mistaken ideas". Perhaps during your time off from the game you can brush up on your logic and learn about the challenges inherent in proving a negative.

Huh?

Nope.

There are many units that an unupgraded, scrolled imp cannot KO. In fact, there is LITERALLY at least one on every team, including DE. What in the world is your point? Are Dark Elves imbalanced against everyone, even themselves?
uh im sorry but thats a really stupid challenge lol ... u can only use healers? wtf lol...stupidest thing i ever heard...and whatever u say trip ill trust my 3.94 gpa over yours :p you are not giving any concrete reason for why that grammar is incorrect, and thefreedictionary.com actually USES literally impossible as an example for the word literally ... but nice try :) also i didnt kno this was english class people need to get some lives ;)

Your problem is not one of grammar -- you are the only one who has called the language skills of others into question. Your problem is one of logic. You are trying to argue that something is not possible (i.e. Shaolin is 100% unable to win against Dwarves). Unfortunately, to prove this statement, you would (as a start) need to monitor every single DW vs. SL game ever played, anywhere, forever. Amazingly enough, in a strict sense even this would be insufficient to establish complete proof, since you could never rule out the possibility that someone in the future would figure out a way or get a lucky draw. In other words, you literally cannot prove your statement. Your argument is, at best, unprovable, and easily falsifiable to boot -- as opposed to the infinite mountain of evidence that you would have to gather, someone would just have to produce one single example of a SL win over DW to conclusively prove you wrong.
Here is a handy YouTube video with more on the topic from Caltech's James Randi: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qWJTUAezxAI
I have no idea what your GPA or dictionary reference are supposed to prove, but you are welcome to this gold star for your efforts.

i think somebody took my slight exagerration slightly too serious =O
Chris is 12. That's the only way to make sense of this entire thread.

For the record, I originally responded to your "slight exaggeration" with a light-hearted joke (post #2). It was only when you flat-out stated that it was NOT an exaggeration that things got serious.

lmao indeed. ;D
Yeah, everyone gets bored sometimes. That's what other games are for, if I start getting burnt out (and as a DA player, I feel your pain) , I stop starting new games for a while and poke around doing other things, like trying for a full complete in The World Ends With You (awesome jrpg, you really should buy this), bejeweled, where's my water has new free levels every few days now, and I'm learning JavaScript now and doing up a HA calculator.
And then when you feel like bashing in heads again, HA willbe right here waiting for you!
... ill trust my 3.94 gpa over yours :p ...
Was the -0.06 those profs giving you A-minuses for overusing "literally"?
That happened to me when they departed and went the TF2 route. Just didn't appeal to me, so I didn't buy it and took a break. This new team perked my interest so I got it and am playing, but they're frustrating me. I'm feeling like they're slightly too weak, but this isn't the right place for that conversation.
All games get boring if you constantly play them. Right now, I'm playing Pokemon white 2, Hero Academy, and am watching a lot of tv. 2 months ago, I was playing a ton of board games, magic the gathering, catan, etc. Before that it was world of Warcraft, world of Warcraft and a side of world of Warcraft.
Ya go through phases. This is nothing new.

I certainly hope he's 12, as he'd make a pretty worrying adult.
you guys must feel so cool lmfao what losers on these forums
it's amazing how some people are actually giving thoughtful responses to my post, and other people feel the need to critcize two words I wrote lmao, how pathetic...I guess that's how you compensate for your sad life...these are the same people that ate alone in high school, and are fat or covered in acne and get bullied all the time

Just my 2 cents and was curious as to whether or not people agree or disagree with me.
