Age of Empires Online Discussions
Is this the game that I was waiting for? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! How i feel? I feel bad, after i seen this game. It is not Age of empires: It's a stupid game for noobs. What have you done, Robot? Did you miss your " fans"? This game looks so Horrible, and i'm doing a compliment. I've been a fan of Age of empires since i was a young boy and i always loved this saga : it looked impressive, funny, realistic and competitive. Many people have asked you for a remake of the AOE 1 or 2 but they have been unheard. This game is not a logical evolution of the series: it's a simplified version of a Great Game. Robot you failed. All of us have been hoping for an AOE 4 ( remake or not) or AOM 2, but you have given us a game that we don't want. I know , I used bad words, but I'm very SAD!! R.I.P. AGE Of EMPIRES
The unit graphics? They need to completely change the all style! You think running with realistic units behind Tom and Jerry forrest will be enough? And it's not just the art style, it's the whole online based thing.
couldnt agree more what an absolute load of F@*##### S@#*
maybe im getting to old but aoe 2/3 were the best and robot you'll never come close!!!
oooooofaaa. I feel bad saying this to RE, but in my option Age of Empires online is abomination, and if this is what yous have been working on....i don't even know what to say. The words "Age of Empires" shouldn't even be put on its title.
But lets no crucify RE just yet. Game 2.0 can very well be what we have been looking for.
If you don't like the game don't play it, its as easy as it gets. It looks cool but it may not be the best idea but time will only tell. I really wanted Age of Empires 4.
when we all sat around think. I want an AoE 1 remake! true that is what many people wanted but because of the time period that was set in. when we said we wanted new graphics for it, we didnt mean top of the line cartoons, we wanted the graphics we all loved in AoE 3 and expansions. everyone wanted the continuation of the great detailed realistic graphics.
personally i dont think microsoft was thinking about all of the loyal fans that have been playing since AoE 1. I think that they realized that we are getting older and they are starting to lose some of us. so they wanted to invest in age group that they could continue making the game for over the next several years. while trying to keep little simmilarities to try and keep all of the old loyal fans playing.
maybe you should play it before judging it?

No.. let them *** and moan.
It's funny. *passes popcorn*
That shouldn't be named Age of empires, it looks nothing like it! I'm sorry but I hate this game!
im not saying that ive already givin up all hope on this series. just i wish MGS would be more loyal the the fans it already had in the series as we had been loyal to the game, not going off and trying to fish in a different market group in hope to turn more profits.
if they play to make an aoe 5 like the aoe 3, they would have still tried to get new market but if the game is good ill still play it. IF im still interested.
Try it first. Right now no one has any backing to their complaints.
Actually, the game has quite a bit of depth in gameplay.
Listen, guys. If you want to have a discussion about your thoughts on the game (or as much as you know about it so far), then by all means do so. Even things you're concerned about. But please don't simply start flaming. I want to hear what you have to say, but in a reasonable, thought-out manner. Flame threads will go bye-bye.
Thanks.

Can we now ask questions about specific things? I mean it seems like priests might actually have a function in this game.

In the hands of a competent developer, a game can retain all sorts of great gameplay that it's hardcore fanbase has grown to love and still expand it's horizons to welcome new players. In fact, I think that should be the goal of any sequel to any game. There's nothing wrong with opening doors for new players. In fact, that's how a community grows. And it can absolutely grow without compromising those who are already a part of it.
i dont really unstand the new home city thing. it sounds like its like ur in a game that helps the constant building home city? or is this more like a runescape or WoW? like is there still the traditional gameplay like in AoE 3? with depth like Runescape?
Question, have you played it yet? :P
Of course. ;)
Will it be Free to Play? By Subscription? or what?
Oh, and in how much time will be get our emails (an aproximate: week, weeks, month, etc) pls?
Can we now ask questions about specific things? I mean it seems like priests might actually have a function in this game.
You can ask all the questions you like! But please be patient with us and understand that we can't answer everything just yet.
As for priests, they can convert enemy units to fight for your side, and they can also convert enemy buildings if you've upgraded them the right way. And that's not all... ;)
Question, have you played it yet? :P
Of course. ;)
Whats your opinion on it? (If your allowed to say so) :O
What engine is this running on?
What was the reason to go to the Age of Empires Online instead?
Whats your opinion on it? (If your allowed to say so) :O
I love it :) I think it's a ton of fun.
that question is already answered on www.ageofempiresonline.com in the Q & A section. they need a forums on that website btw
Lol, I'm just trying to think how a Priest would convert a building.
"THE POWER OF CHRIST COMPELS YOU!"
*Building begins to shake*
"THE POWER OF CHRIST COMPELS YOU!"
*Building erupts into massive fireball*
Can this be implemented into the game please? :P
Uh, no?
I was wondering what his opinion was on it.

Had you played AOE2, you would have known it was implemented 10 years ago. Of course it can be.
SixOkay im very happy the game looks very awesome and i belive there is MUCH depth stuff you didnt showed ;) i would love to know whats the Engine you using :)) please?
By the way the worlds will be divided by Servers like those browser games
I think it looks like fun, Battlefield Heroes was a lot of fun, and it was cartoonish. a MMO RTS seems like a new unique field that could be a lot of fun. I love Age of Emires II, and I realize this is going to be different, but I am still willing to try it. Going to make a clan on it :) TEAM VOOBLY, all the AOE2 games will unite under 1 flag to destroy u noobs hahahha. Hope they start sending out beta invites soon.

Relax lol...just hope they will change the unit graphics a bit (which is what 99% of the Beta Testers will probably ask for)
