All Alpha Testers automatically become Beta Testers. They are already currently playing the Beta.

We know what MS announces in that regard. They're managing all of the beta invites through their connect site. Last we heard, they were planning to start the first wave of invites this week, possibly early this week.
Thanks for recognizing the testers! That's one thing a lot of other studios never do, it's much appreciated from those who were invited to help improve the game.

@Six, make sure the beta tests/alpha testers get recognition in the game when the full release is made. Everyone deserves who helps out deserves to keep a little ribbon or something on their name/profile.

NO. Are you crazy? There shouldn't be any in game bonuses for alpha or better testers. That would make them have an unfair advantage based upon luck being chosen in the beta. Again, NO.
There is nothing wrong with having a ribbon on their profile for being in the beta or alpha. Never anywhere in that statement did I state that they would get some bonus......
It could be a visual element like a special statue for your capital, or - even easier - just a special LIVE gamer picture (similar to Endwar, Shadowrun etc).

Well, it is purely a visual element that confers no in-game boni. Plus, these days nobody gets everything, thanks to the asinine policy of giving different in-game items to different vendors as pre-order incentives. Especially great as most of them never make it across the pond to Europe...

That is so true.. Unfornately in Portugal Limited Editions dont arrive..only 1 Prestige edition in major stores =/.. I dont see a problem with a Statue :) Good Luck to get in BETA all :)

...why did you ask us so many questions then? I'm able to playtest this game a number of hours bigger than 80%~ of people, yet some random casual gamer could get into the beta instead of a hardcore one...just great
