As an environment artist here at Robot, I work on assets that require stone, so why not select a superhero made out of stone! I've always liked The Thing from the Fantastic Four and used to follow his comic series, but never got into the Fantastic Four. I watched the Fantastic Four movies when they came out and was so disappointed in how they handled the look of Thing. So when we decided to have "Monster" as our theme, I had just finished watching the Dreamworks animated movie Igor with my kids. I thought it was a great movie and it also gave me the idea for our Monster theme, Frankenstien. I didn't want the prototypical one, I wanted one that was clearly different similar to the ones created in Igor. This was an easy one me, I watched everything Spiderman along with reading the three comic series they had out at the time. Like my previous post in the GIJOE theme, I'm taking advantage of these art blog posts to learn more ZBrush and I'm really liking the program.
Here is the base mesh I worked up from a low poly model. I'd have to say the painting of all his webs in his costume almost drove me crazy. I couldn't tell you how many times I almost switched him to his all black suit :)

Hello again! Didn't think I'd be posting again so soon, but some of the other artists wanted a little more time to tie off their stuff, so here I go again. I actually wasn't going to do another post for this topic since I had already done the Skyhawk, but Moffitt finally got me to start using a new software package for modeling called ZBrush. I started out with just a basic sphere and started sculpting over our lunch times just trying to get a feel for the program. Hey all! Here is an image I worked up for the latest GI Joe theme. Like most, I was a huge GI Joe fan growing up and had several of the toys, but unfortunately for my toys they lost the war with my BB gun!
