Superman is my favorite superhero for many reasons. One day, when I was just a kid, my father sat me down and taught me how to draw Superman. That was the day I became a Superman fan, and more importantly the day I decided to become an artist.
Here is Superman and his friends; Superboy, Power Girl, Steel, Supergirl, and Krypto. This was done entirely on an iPad with an app called ArtRage. Click the image for a larger view.

I started teaching game development at SMU’s Guildhall about five years ago. Even though I had a about 6 years of experience at that time, I wasn’t sure I was ready to actually teach anybody anything. When I had to come up with the curriculum I decided the best thing was to run the class just like a game studio. Even though I’m more of a Transformers and He-man fan, the GI Joe theme seemed like fun. It took me a good while to actually decide what to create. When I stumbled upon a drawing app for my iPhone, Autodesk Sketchbook Mobile, I thought it would be a fun challenge to create my entry entirely on my phone. I’ve always been a fan of the Bruce Timm style Batman and Justice League cartoons, so what I create would attempt to put a GI Joe character into that style.
