New Hero Academy Screenshots and TF2 ...
Robot Entertainment has released new screenshots and details that offer players a first look at the unique abilities of the upcoming Steam-exclusive Team Fortress 2 heroic team. As with all previous teams, the release of the new Team Fortress 2 team will be accompanied by TF2 avatar packs for your Hero Academy profile and a new playing field inspired by the TF2 capture-the-flag map, “Well.” In addition to the exciting new team, each of the previously released heroic expansion teams that players purchase in the Steam version of the game will unlock a unique cosmetic item in Team Fortress 2 inspired by a member of that team. Hero Academy will be available on Steam on August 8th, 2012, and is currently available on the iOS App Store.

Team Fortress 2 Heroic Team Details
From a distant land and time beyond the Clouds of Vapor, the Team Fortress heroes have taken the Hero Academy field by storm. With a wide variety of heroes and flexible advanced weaponry, they have an answer for any situation and an aggressive playstyle.
Spy
Cloaked unit who is not targetable at range. Deals massive damage from behind.
Scout
Fast-moving recon hero; gain an AP when deployed. Automatically hops back when hit.
Sniper
Can target enemies anywhere in his row. Crouches at the end of turn; crouched attacks are at increased power.
Medic
Heals and revives allies; can link to a full-health ally to increase their power.
Engineer
Defensive hero with a basic ranged attack. Upgrades allies' weapons.
Heavy
AOE attack at range. Every successive attack deals more damage as his minigun spins up.
Pyro
Does full damage to two enemies in a row; attack can hit cloaked units.
Demoman
Lobs grenades that do AOE damage. Bonus damage against crystals.
Soldier
Ranged hero. Powerful rockets knock enemy units back.
Team Bonus
Relentless Action - Stomping enemies grants an action point.

This team is looking really cool and unique. I assume with so many units, that there will be fewer of each on the team. I'm also guessing that, like the Tribe, the TF2 team will get two super units (one of each, now just to figure out which two they are...). I'm also curious about the sandwich (which is likely a healing item, hopefully with a cool side-effect) and rewind arrows. But what I'm most curious about is a Mac version of the game. I don't really intend to play the game on my computer (love it on my iPhone 4S) but I want access to this team! It seems kind of lame to leave us Mac gamers out in the cold, especially considering that Hero Academy was born on an Apple device. I may have to resort to buying the game on a friend's PC just to get this team, and I'd really prefer not to do that.

@Batman - The Sandvich is a heal/power-up, and the "rewind" arrows are actually a Respawn that will allow you to place a KO'd unit back onto your tile rack for no AP charge.
@StrikerObi - Yes, the numbers of each unit are adjusted to accomodate for there being so many unique units. And while Hero Academy was born on an Apple device, as you note, it's not the simple push of a button to make it move from iOS to Mac. There's still plenty of development involved there. We focused on getting the PC version up and running, and we're considering making a Mac port of the PC version, but don't have anything specific planned at the moment. If you do have to use a friend's machine to get this team, it will only be for a couple minutes, and then you never have to bother them again. :)
When will you be announcing the pricing?
I'm super excited about the new TF2 team they look great, although I do have concerns that the Sniper's long reach could be a bit overpowereing.

I'm strictly an iOS and cosole gamer so quite honestly I'm still more than a little upset that I'll have to purchase a game that I'll never play just to get access to the TF2 team for use in the iOS release. It feels like slight against the iOS fans who made your game so popular in the first place and who've bought all the previous teams (and perhaps even some avatar items).

@OTGGamer - We haven't announced pricing yet, but it's worth noting that the game includes two teams (Council and TF2), and teams alone regularly sell for 1.99 each. The only reason the council team was free on the iOS version of the game is because it was supported by the ads in the game. You pay for the Council team on HA PC, but you don't have any ads at all in the PC Client. I'm sorry if it's an inconvenience to use Steam to make the purchase for the TF2 team, but if it's that much of a pain, you'll only have to do it the one time and you'll be all set.
@Minogusti - If you log into Hero Academy with the same account on both your iPod Touch and on Steam, all of your purchased items and your matches will work on every device. You can start a match with a friend on your iPod while you're out, then open up the Steam version at home to keep playing your moves. And vice versa.

Hey Justin, I 'd like to voice my complaint as well about having the team available only for PC users. I'm more than happy to pay for the team if it were made available straight within the iOS app (much like I paid for all the other teams...)
At least, you guys should have considered AND released a Mac version at the same time instead of leaving those of us who don't use a PC hanging! No I don't own a PC nor do my friends (we're all Mac users).

I look forward to purchasing the game on Steam, but I just have one thing that needs to be cleared up. You mentioned loggin into the same account on Hero Academy Game Center and Steam. Will there be an option to log in to Robot Entertainment in game? I created my steam account years before Itunes and they both use different emails.

Doesn't make sense
I play the game on iPad and iPhone. If a new team comes out, I should be able to buy it on the iPad without having to download Steam just to install the game I already own, taking up hard disk space on my mac laptop, in a windows boot partition to buy a game I don't want to have on my laptop at all -- just so I can buy a team for 4+ dollars??
Really this team needs to be released on the iOS just like any other team, using your logic the team should cost 1.99$ because the Concil was paid for with the ads. I own all the teams and some other bonus's but I really don't appreciate this weird hoop trick that I need to do to get the next team to play with. I've seen other games require you to do weird install gimics: but those were so that you could get free stuff! It's not only going to be gimmicky -- but it's expensive too!
The game needs more teams and ideally also more per-team customizations & new puppets for the current teams (so that when I face another player with the same team I can't entirely predict their deck composition) -- without it the game will and does enventually loose steam. Making new teams near-impossible for current players to get isn't helping you keep your steam up; it's short-term gain for long-term loss. I expected more from a game that started off so well with such huge potential. This game can go very-very far it you actually believed in it. Now's not the time to start testing out tricks to cash-out on your fanbase.

What happened Robot?
Not only did you create a team that has nothing to do with the theme of the game (fantasy: wizard, elves, orcs, dwarves), but now the loyal fans who waited patiently as the game progressed from one team to four and bought them along the way now have to register with a platform we never wanted to pay more money for a broken, non-themed new team?! Good plan, but no thanks. I'll resign every game I get in a random assignment but more importantly I'll think harder about buying your products now.

Pricing
It's laughable how RE's posts keep trying to justify a $4 minimum price point. The maths doesn't add up of course. It is really incredibly simple. Existing iOS players pay $2 for a team, so please stop treating us like idiots.
At least be honest and say you want/need/desire a price increase, and that's what you are doing! And stop making us jump through Steam/PC hoops for a game I never want to play on PC. This game suits iPad perfectly, and that is the only platform I want to play it on.

Is steam really that bad?
I'm sure the millions of gamers reached through steam will benefit robot, so the fact that you have to download it on steam to get the tf2 team (the number one game on steam btw and it's f2p) makes sense since tf2 is the most recognized game in the steam library. Why would they not partner with valve in order to reach a much larger gamer base than the iOS users?
