Monday Morning Meeting! - October 8, ...
Hey! Remember these Monday Morning Meeting posts! If you're one of the many new Heroes or War Mages that joined the Robot family over the Summer of Shipping So Many Games™ then you may not have been around the last time we did these. Here's the tl;dr version of what this is about - Robot employees get together every Monday morning for a big company meeting just to talk about what's going on with each of our projects and any other company news. It's a good chance for everyone to get a little caught up. Earlier this year, we started posting MMM blogs as well so that we could keep the community posted on what's going on with Robot and our community. I haven't posted one for a few months because, frankly, we were mega-busy shipping Orcs Must Die! 2 and Hero Academy on PC. And two Orcs Must Die! 2 booster packs. Yeah, it was that kind of summer. But now that the weather is cooling off for those of us in the northern hempisphere, I figured it was time to give you another update on how things are going.
Orcs Must Die! 2
What's that? You've already given a sound beating to all of the new levels in the Fire and Water and Family Ties booster packs? You want more? Give me just a minute...
... Okay, I went and pleaded your case to our lead producer and he agrees. You can have more. Keep your eyes peeled in the next few weeks for more news about some very exciting additional content for OMD2!
Halloween is Almost Here!
We've already got all of our terrifying Halloween decorations up around the office this year, complete with Orc bones strewn randomly about the work areas. Are you planning to do anything OMD-related this year for Halloween? A War Mage Jack-o-Lantern? A Sorceress costume? If you create any frighteningly cool OMD Halloween creations, we want to see them! Send us photos at Community@RobotEntertainment.com and we'll share them with our community!
We've got a good runway of Weekly Challenges left in our list, but we'd love to hear some ideas from you! Now that you've had the chance to play through a few, hop into this forum thread and tell OMD2's lead designer what you want to see in future challenges. Be sure to read the initial post for the guidelines, then post your nightmarish challenges!
You may have noticed that we've had a handful of unscheduled down-times lately in Hero Academy. That's pretty frustrating, right? We get it. We play, too, and we're just as frustrated about the outages. We're sorry about that. The good news is that we've identified what the problem is, and we're actively working to build an alternate solution that shuold make things much more stable for the future. However, it's going to take a little time before we can put the new plan in motion. Until that time (and possible after), we're going to start running regularly scheduled maintenance on the servers. For the foreseeable future, we'll be bringing the servers down for scheduled maintenance every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 8:00am CDT (That's 1:00pm GMT). The maintenance is scheduled each day to last 2 hours, but should we encounter any problems, that window could be longer. We'll do our best to keep players notified via our Twitter and Facebook pages if anything out of the ordinary is going to occur.
The goal, for us, is to keep the system as stable as possible. You're going to need it when we wrap up work on the new expansion team that we're putting together, because they're a lot of fun to play!
If you follow us on Twitter (and why wouldn't you!?) then you probably saw a couple of tweets last week about Moving Day! It's an exciting time around here. Now that Orcs Must Die! 2 and Hero Academy PC are both shipped, we've started to roll desks around and put together new teams to start smashing 1's and 0's together on Robot's next projects. Because these are in their earliest stages, it's going to be a while before you see any new project news from us, and the winter months might seem a little quieter than usual. But don't worry! We're doing a lot of really exciting things that I think will maintain our track record of completely surprising players!
One of the traditions of the MMM is that it kicks off with Harter playing a song of his choosing over the intercom as our call to the Biergarten. And now we want to pass that on to you. Here's this morning's MMM song:
