Even though I’m more of a Transformers and He-man fan, the GI Joe theme seemed like fun. It took me a good while to actually decide what to create. When I stumbled upon a drawing app for my iPhone, Autodesk Sketchbook Mobile, I thought it would be a fun challenge to create my entry entirely on my phone. I’ve always been a fan of the Bruce Timm style Batman and Justice League cartoons, so what I create would attempt to put a GI Joe character into that style. Lastly, I needed a character with some color so Scarlett fit the bill. READ MORE
Hey everyone! I've always been a big fan of GIJoe and I had a huge collection of toys as a kid, so when we decided on the theme, I was really excited. One of my favorite comic book artists is J Scott Campbell known for his Danger Girl and Wildsiders comics. He's drawn the Baroness for GiJoe comics before and I've always wanted to model a character in his style so I thought this would be the perfect opportunity. I started with a simple base mesh that I tried to match to one of his drawings from Danger Girl, just to get the proportions correct. Her face and legs went through a lot of revisions before I finally got a look that I was ha ... READ MORE
Hello again! Didn't think I'd be posting again so soon, but some of the other artists wanted a little more time to tie off their stuff, so here I go again. I actually wasn't going to do another post for this topic since I had already done the Skyhawk, but Moffitt finally got me to start using a new software package for modeling called ZBrush. I started out with just a basic sphere and started sculpting over our lunch times just trying to get a feel for the program. I was having a blast with this new program and had come up with my first head sculpt. READ MORE
Hey all! Here is an image I worked up for the latest GI Joe theme. Like most, I was a huge GI Joe fan growing up and had several of the toys, but unfortunately for my toys they lost the war with my BB gun! I decided to try a vehicle for this theme, so I started surfing the web for an interesting design. As soon as I saw the Skyhawk I knew it was the one. I didn't want to do a straight remake of the toy, so I added some "slight" modifications to it. Like Grimm2021, I took part in the 3D Challenge put on by CGHub but due to lack of time and my laziness, I n READ MORE
What's up guys? Looks like I'll be the first to post an image for our GI Joe theme. Like most of us here I'm a huge fan of the old cartoon and was very excited to work on a GI Joe themed project. I don't have a lot of character experience so I decided to make a vehicle. I looked through a lot of the reference from the cartoon and toys and discovered the vehicles aren't nearly as cool as I remembered. I decided on the Cobra Wolf. It's one of the cooler looking vehicles and I found a ton of good reference for it. READ MORE
Congrats to all of my co-workers for a great job on our 1st Art-Bot Central theme 'Clash of the Titans'. There was really some amazing stuff that everyone put together, and such a wide variety of techniques and software being used. Brad’s post was the conclusion to the theme, and I wanted to thank everyone for stopping by and checking it out. I also wanted to take this time to respond to the most consistent question that was left in the comments section. READ MORE
Sup y'all! Here's my take at the Clash of the Titans theme. I hope you guys dig it. I was hoping to be able to add more information on the snakes and textures etc. but unfortunately I didn't get a chance to do that. Hopefully one of these days I'll take it to the final polish that I had hoped for.
thanks for stopping by,
